simple, light and highly productive

  • October 08, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The minimalistic design of the operating system is what I like the most. It can run smoothly on old and low spec laptops with exceptional performance. A large community of online users and wide support for apps and technical issues makes it one of the best-operating systems.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are certain things i dislike and hope it gets better in the future such as
1. It is slow in bringing support to some of the most used applications compared to windows or mac os.
2. It is hard to find the list of installed packages and remove them. Not so intuitive as windows. A simple app with a user interface would be better.
3. it does not let you log in to the system without a password or at least a simple pin which is annoying.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
A stable operating system
Smooth functioning of old hardware
Improved productivity
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It takes a while to get used to the ecosystem. But once you get used to it your productivity is next level

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
This system is so user friendly it has become the premium Linux system for new people getting into Lunix OS.

The graphics are good, updates are regular - it even has a app store just like Windows 10.

With a developer forum you are able to contribute and make an app to add to the store become a part of the service which is amazing.
What do you dislike about the product?
Linux systems can build software using cmake. These advanced commands are complex and difficult which put of the average computer user.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Being a solid stable OS this has been a first step towards server and business networking and IT services.

Not to mension NEW USER progressive learning methods.

What do you like best about the product?
Ubuntu is always first cab off the ranks for any update. It just works.
What do you dislike about the product?
The UI could be a lot more elegant. Other distros do a much better job.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ubuntu Desktop is my primary day to day tool, for development, data maintenance and everything else.

Ubuntu: free, open-source and incredible.

What do you like best about the product?
I love how Ubuntu learning curve is literally immense, I use it everyday from several years and I keep discovering new shortcuts, tools or packages that improves my experience by a lot. It is also really really fast and user-friendly, unlike most linux-based OS.
What do you dislike about the product?
I personally dislike the new graphical update, but that's a really little and insignifcant detail. I completely love Ubuntu and I couldn't work with anything else, even though in the previous years security actually become worse and took quite a lot to become better. But nowadays, as far as I know, those security issues are fixed.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Ubuntu mainly to develop applications in Python, and a lot of libraries (snips of code) are buggy or hard to install in Windows. In Ubuntu I never had problem installing libraries, it is really easy and it has a LOT of documentation to help anyone with it.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
You should really focus on getting your batch skill foundation really solid before using it everyday, since it can improve your productivity by a lot.

Operating system that actually works!

  • October 03, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
This operating system is extremely stable and reliable. You don't have to worry about the bugs or viruses any more. The Ubuntu community is the best in the world. They have the solution for every problem. Whereas finding out the problem in windows often become very frustrating. The Ubuntu file system is also better than Windows. The best thing is, it don't have BSOD.
What do you dislike about the product?
Well, the GUI could be better. Ubuntu does not come with every required apps preinstalled. So you have to know stuffs to make it usable. Comparing to windows, it much better but if we compare it with mac OS, it's an okay operating system. Also, for gamers; setting up the system required high level of knowledge which most of the people don't have.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have been installing 1000+ mail servers, web servers using this distro of linux and we have never regretted the decision for it's robust features and community support. This OS is highly modifiable, making it almost a custom OS for your specific need.

Ubuntu OS latest versions best suited for most of the task which Windows do

  • September 28, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Free OS, gets a desktop version, can do almost all the things what a Windows os can do we hall alternative softwares for every software which Windows have and all free of cost.
What do you dislike about the product?
Requires some knowledge on Linux basics also but working with Ubuntu you learn a lot
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use it for machine learning projects where setting up environment for ML is not so complicated like other OS and we get python inbuilt and downloading softwares are all with one liner command where lot of dependencies are resolved automatically.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Free to use, more secure, desktop version of Linux, can be a new technological product you would learn by using it.

Super Stable

  • September 27, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I really like that ubuntu is a super stable os that can have really long uptimes. The low resource consumption is also something that I really enjoy. I can take old hardware that is super slow with windows, throw ubuntu on it and it is about one billion times faster than it was before. The ability to customize anything you want on it too is also something that I really really like.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dont like how some software is only supported if you meet certain requirements. Some software is also hard to run on linux or is not even available for linux. Additionally, sometimes you have to find/enable really obsure settings to get things to work properly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am using this as my main day to day driver and on all of my servers. It costs significantly less to run everything too. I can also virtualize many instances of the OS and not have to fork money over to Microsoft for all of the licenses that you normally would have to.

Great linux distro and a gateway to linux world

  • September 25, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Everything feels smoother, cleared, a bug-free, add-free environment that really allows us to focus on whatever that is needed to be done. Much more secured that windows os. No need to install tons of software to defend virus.
What do you dislike about the product?
Although there are alternating apps for every occasion. But sometimes as a windows user, you need the exact app. You could run it via wine but it's just extra hassle.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
For students, the desktop version is highly recommended as it is the gateway to the Linux world. With the free os, one can run a full-fledged enterprise-grade web server, mail server without an issue. The community is very rich, which allows you to solve any issue with a blink of an eye.

A Dearest Distro in the Linux World

  • September 25, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Primarily Ubuntu is Debian-based, the one best to start as an alternative on desktops. The OS has evolved over the years. Canonical has given the best touches to the OS in the terms of changes to the network manager, snap store, LTS, etc.
What do you dislike about the product?
Ubuntu has been there for a long time trying to push the OS to the desktop segment. It had a head start, but Canonical still has not made an interest to participate with OEMs for a wider device driver pool. Still, I do not have a driver available for my version of the Elan fingerprint sensor. In cloud, it has made the identity, but never tried to address the desktop segment even though there were enough tries to accommodate itself in the same.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I consider ubuntu as an alternative to Windows in the desktop environment. At the same time using it as a reliable OS on the cloud.
