I moved from premire pro to resolve, the experience is not smooth, but i'm enjoying the free software.
What do you dislike about the product?
The animation aspects are not easy to learn, the fusion panel is not easy to learn.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The color correction panel is awesome, the edit panel is smooth enough for working.
Recommendations to others considering the product:

A great change from Adobe Premiere and Final Cut

What do you like best about the product?
What stands out for me is the ability to tap on my GPU for better performance, it's cost-effectiveness (I recently purchased a BMPCC 4k, which meant the full version came with it for free!), and that all of the tools I would have to pay for in addition to Premiere (Like Aftereffects and Audition) all are a part of the program. Also, it has some of the best Color-correction tools in the industry, so that's pretty great too!
What do you dislike about the product?
It does have a bit of a learning curve to it (I've used AVID, Premiere and FCP, so the transition wasn't too bad) - to tie into this, there isn't a huge amount of resources available online, like Adobe has with Premiere, so if something isn't working right and no one has found the correct fix for it yet, I may be SOL.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I recently started a new business, and part of what is making the business work is the fact that I was able to get a super-affordable 4K cinema camera (the BMPCC 4K) and free, high-level editing software. After relying on company or industry rental equipment, it was nice to be able to afford and leverage my own equipment for my new venture, and since BlackMagic makes it so accessable for new filmmakers/producers, I can't help but say that this is helping me tremendously.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are considering using DaVinci Resolve to Edit, make sure you not only have a strong CPU, but also a powerful GPU to take full advantage of their software package and their GPU enhanced editing processees.

Small learning curve, but great benefits

What do you like best about the product?
Once you understand the basic tools (trimming, lighting, speed, frame positioning, etc) this can be a very useful tool for any video editing project you may undertake
What do you dislike about the product?
While the capabilities of the software are vast, learning how to use it is not very intuitive. This is not a software for beginners. YouTube is your best learning resource, which has it's pros and cons
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have been able to produce great videos with a professional editing aesthetic without having any prior training in the field of video editing. If you dive in head first with an open mind to learning something new, you can develop a valuable skillset for yourself that can benefit you both professionally and personally
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The capabilities of this software are vast. Use it if you are serious about making a quality product for yourself or your organization. It will take time to learn, but it is well worth the effort

What do you like best about the product?
Coming from Adobe Premiere, it was a smooth transition. The keyboard shortcuts are changeable, and everything is easily found.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are not many tutorials for things on YouTube. But that is changing as it grows with popularity.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My mac workflow isn't crashing while I'm editing a video like it did every 15 minutes to an hour while using Premeire.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Just try it out. Color grading is so easy and you can get so many more things done.

Very good Premiere replacement

What do you like best about the product?
Best-in-class color correction utilities
Good editing features
Good Audio-Editing features
VFX features
Price
What do you dislike about the product?
Not fully supported on Linux
Really resource heavy even for a basic editing
The interface is not customizable
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Da Vinci Resolve is a very top-noth all-in-one editing software.
I switched to Resolve from Premiere, and I'm very happy of it.
It's a very powerfull tool for editing (expecialy in the last version, with the "cut" page) and colo correction/grading, and I really appreciarte that blackmagic is trying to do a all-in-one solution.
But there are some problems that make it not so good as a all-in-one:
the audio support for some professional audio interface is not so good (I have an old firewire audio-card, fully supported on Windows, but not supported so weel on Da Vinci).
The "edit" and the new "cut" pages are great but i would prefer to have only one page, with the possibility to choose the layot, in order to not to make a mess in the interface.
The interface is good and fashion to look.. but I really would prefer a customizabile one, like Premiere's one (I have a dual monitor with an ultrawide monitor, and I want to be able to customize the interface as I want).
The fairlight page is very good and powerfull, but the interface is very messy... the way the sotware let you to edit the audio (for example work on a VST) is graphically too comicated; I Would prefer a more classic style, like Cubase, or Reaper.
The performance are very good, all the software is really faster then premiere on the same PC, and the GPU accelleration is very excellent.
It permit you to work on a entire project without problems, when Premiere crashes.

The software is very professionist-oriented, and it's very stable, but I would like a bit more personalizzation.

I would like also a sort of "dynamic link" with a graphic software such as Photoshop or Affinity Photo or Designer.

The setup is not really simple, you have to manually set-up the color space, the nits of your monitor ecc... It's not so good if you came from Premiere or Final cut
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Very good software, all-in-one solution, very good for Content Marketing companies with very small team.

The most complete free video editing software

  • October 01, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The video editing software looks professional in every aspect, though it is free in his basic version. Probably his best feature his the color correction section, which is difficult to find on other free softwares. It is characterized by a great variety of effects and transitions on videos and audio. I even appreciate the deliver section, where you can export your videos in different formats and codecs.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is not so easy to use for a beginner, but in 7/10 days it is possibile to learn the main functions and then improve day after day. The video stabilization is great but it’s quite tough to handle at the beginning.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
DaVinci Resolve allowed me to edit professional videos, mostly recorded with action cameras. The color correction section improved my experience in relation to the one I had with other softwares.

The "free" alternative to payed programs

  • September 16, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
If you own a Blackmagic Camera, you can't unsee Davinci Resolve! Its the best program in my opinion to handle the Blackmagic RAW files.
What do you dislike about the product?
The free version is nice, but the full version, which is part of the package when you buy a Blackmagic Camera is better, but costs much.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Handling RAW Files from the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try the free Version, its great!

Using to Grade and Online Edit films

  • September 16, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The functionality and how far it allows me to take a film or project from conforms and editing, to be able to tweak and add complex BFX and script and Fusion projects directly into the timeline, the colour and grading tools are the best out there, and then finishing and export is excellent being able to round trip to Avid or other software or to finish and export to any formats, tape or a selection of files for delivery is excellent!
What do you dislike about the product?
What is not to like about software that works and keeps on being innovative to its users and allows for tv highest production values to be completed with all versions both free and paid allowing integration with each other. . .
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The functionality and how far it allows me to take a film or project from conforms and editing, to be able to tweak and add complex BFX and script and Fusion projects directly into the timeline, the colour and grading tools are the best out there, and then finishing and export is excellent being able to round trip to Avid or other software or to finish and export to any formats, tape or a selection of files for delivery is excellent!
