Craft CMS Makes It Easy to Build User-friendly Websites

  • November 26, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Craft CMS is an intuitive content management system that allows you to design custom page layouts using content fields and blocks that directly reference your website's code templates. The best thing about Craft CMS is the customizability with which the content management system allows you to build specific layouts for different sections (organized into either "channels" or "structures") of your website. Another benefit is the versioning of pages and other "entries" in your website, as well as live preview editing, which allows users to see their changes take effect on the website in real time.
What do you dislike about the product?
One of the bigger drawbacks to Craft CMS is the significant learning curve it can take some users to overcome in order to properly use the content management system. Fortunately, there are several plug-ins available that you can add to the content management system that can streamline user training, such as by building a "user guide" as a "Help" structure.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Craft CMS to build custom websites for businesses that need a fully editable but user-friendly back-end dashboard. We transitioned to using Craft CMS after migrating from Adobe Business Catalyst following the announced end of life of Business Catalyst services.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
For others considering Craft CMS for web development, I recommend that you familiarize yourself with the extensive documentation available online for the various functionalities available within Craft CMS. Whether it be editing section entries or managing files in your website's asset volumes, Craft CMS has put together beneficial documentation for these and many other questions you and your clients may have.

Easy, scalable solution

  • June 22, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Intuitive interface with important backend features (SEO, page ranking); easy to organize tiles for feature pages. Scalable—easy to build new pages. For all intents and purposes, I could use Craft without needing development support 95% of the time.
What do you dislike about the product?
Text formatting is challenging—always running into snafus with styling. New page formats were challenging to build (required dev work)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As someone with limited tech skills, I appreciate that I can use Craft without needing development support

Easy replacement for WordPress

  • October 30, 2020
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The back end is user-friendly and once you get a good-looking website it is extremely easy to keep it up to date. We are not web designers, but we don't want to have to pay our web designer each and every time we have an update. The few problems we have had (see below) were relatively easy to fix.
What do you dislike about the product?
Recently we were hacked, and we had a fake landing page for a scam website added to our page randomly. That was not fun. For a platform that bills itself as a more secure alternative to WordPress, that was disheartening. I know there's no such thing as a hacker-proof site, but still!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We moved off of WordPress when it became clear that it created security risks and was not ADA or GDPR compliant. Our web developer suggested Craft CMS as a solid alternative.

A CMS that's actually built from a developer's mindset

  • April 10, 2020
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The idea the everything from the ground up is a customizable data structure. You don't have to fit into a pre-build mold like Wordpress where things are either a "Page" or a "Post." That's not how most sites are - usually there are complex data structures that the user needs to customize, and Craft gives you that control. On top of the customization, database backups are a synch, the asset management tooling is phenomenal, the back-end editor is really pretty, and there's so much more too. You gotta try it!
What do you dislike about the product?
The only thing that I would dislike is that it's not 100% free. I think it's a great CMS, and I get why it's not free. But if it were, you could get a lot more buy-in from business-minded folk.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It allows me to build sites from an architecture that makes sense to me. I don't have to "fit in" to how the CMS works. It just works like how I need it to, and gives me the flexibility via Twig and the back-end editor to make it happen.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
You need to be a bit comfortable with PHP, and you might want to read up about how the Twig templating engine works. Additionally, as with just about any big CMS out there, you need to be familiar with a SQL relational database. Otherwise, it's just super friendly to developers.

How Craft commerce work with Vue

  • April 08, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Craft CMS has the most flexible structure I have ever seen from any CMS system.
What do you dislike about the product?
Craft CMS has some bugs from time to time, their developer team is fixing bugs as they can.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I can work with designers easily, and craft CMS as a CMS system is very easy to maintain.

Craft is a Great CMS but Needs Dev Work

  • May 19, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Craft was set up for us by a dev team and has quite a few pre-built things we can pull from. As a marketer, there is a lot I would not be able to create on my one. That being said, with what is already created, the drag and drop blocks are awesome, the UI is very clean and easy to navigate.
What do you dislike about the product?
I’d prefer to be able to create pages from scratch but cloning is much more straight forward. I also wish there was something really easy to use for forms within Craft. We use HubSpot and I think we pay too much money for HubSpot to simply use it to embed forms into our Craft instance.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Just like any website, you need a CSM. Craft is a simple go-to and we’re able to quickly get pages up and running from both our marketing and dev teams.

    Staffing and Recruiting

Not the prettiest, but functional

  • May 17, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Multiple users and log onto the same website and make edits
What do you dislike about the product?
Multiple users can’t make changes on the same page at the same time; structure/UX
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Blogging, custom landing pages
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Play around to figure out where things are, communicate with team about where things “live”
