What is our primary use case?
My main use case for Virtru Data Protection Gateway is that my organization's entire team uses it to secure and encrypt our email and other sensitive files. We use it internally as well as for communicating with our portfolio companies and investors. I appreciate how Virtru Data Protection Gateway seamlessly integrates with our G Suite accounts, and it is much easier to use than traditional secure file systems or password-protected email messaging tools.
Virtru Data Protection Gateway helps us with email encryption without needing to install or exchange keys with the recipient. The email DLP is very easy to configure and maintain, thereby saving time. It serves as a great application gateway that encrypts emails sent directly from SaaS applications such as Zendesk and Salesforce in my organization.
What is most valuable?
The best features Virtru Data Protection Gateway offers are email encryption, application email encryption, email DLP, and email gateway.
Email encryption has made the biggest impact for my team because it adds an extra layer of security. Email encryption allows us to encrypt emails without installing or exchanging keys with the recipient; we can have the sender manually encrypt the email, or based on keywords in the email, we suggest the user encrypt the email, or we auto-encrypt the email with ease.
I also appreciate the DLP feature because it helps us gain DLP capabilities in a simple and straightforward way.
Virtru Data Protection Gateway has positively impacted my organization by providing better security. Better security has meant ensuring customer sensitive information is well protected and secured for my organization; we have noticed fewer incidents, improved compliance, and it saves approximately 50 hours a month by enabling us to eliminate manual work and reduce several daily workflow steps for our representatives.
What needs improvement?
One area in which I believe Virtru Data Protection Gateway should improve is the native Google Docs file encryption. Although it is working well in Google Drive, it only functions for files that are not Google native.

I previously used Paubox, and I decided to switch because it was more expensive compared to Virtru Data Protection Gateway.

It secures the message so people cannot just access it easily .

Sometimes Virtru doesn't always send the message after encryption. So I have to redo all the steps until it does.

There should be a demo on how the encryption works and what the receiver should expect so that the sender can accordingly inform the receiver to expect an email with the subject line and from email id

I'm able to send and receive large documents which would not have been possible over email
Enhanced Privacy, But Needs Better Delivery
What do you like best about the product?
I like that with Virtru Email Encryption, only the intended receiver has access to the emails, which makes the communication more secure. The inclusion of a BAA (Business Associate Agreement) also adds an extra layer of security, addressing privacy concerns effectively.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes clients are not familiar and don't know how to access Virtru Email Encryption. Most often, it initially goes to spam, and they don't see it. Also, very expensive

I like Virtru Email Encryption for its ease of use, particularly with email integration and strong access controls. The email integration is especially valuable because it enables user-friendly encryption, which aligns with our need to become CMMC compliant. The strong access controls allow us to enforce least-privilege access and maintain control over sensitive information. The initial setup was also easy to implement with minimal technical challenges.

There is a small learning curve for new users and additional reporting. While the tool itself is straightforward, a couple of employees need additional guidance on when to apply encryption and how to manage access control properly.

What do you like best about the product?
The interface is easy to use, and the customer service, along with the customer experience managers, are excellent.
What do you dislike about the product?
There really aren’t many downsides to this product. We have experienced a few glitches or minor issues, but each time, their customer support team has resolved or addressed them quickly.

Virtru assists us in securing emails and files, especially when we are working with third parties or managing data that GFS classifies as sensitive.

my staff often have to re-activate the Virtru on their email and I'm not sure why- then they always call the office admin staff to walk them through it

I find Virtru Email Encryption very easy to use because it's right there, and I don't have to think about it not working. I haven't had any customers complain about issues with being able to open emails. I also love the ability to add a personal greeting before the encryption. The initial setup was incredibly easy.
