Review of Alfresco ECM Content Services
What do you like best about the product?
Alfresco ECM Content Services has been a very popular Enterprise Content Management (ECM) tool having both Open source and Enterprise versions. The open source version popularly called as Alfresco Community version has been there for more than 10 years and has a huge active community which answers the questions, contributes to the Alfresco ECM plugin repository and share their blogs with details on enhancements and customizations. Alfresco Content Services normally referred to the Enterprise version with Alfresco support has been there since quiet sometime and been popular as well. Alfresco Content Services has wide variety of customers across the industry. Alfresco Content services is a very good ECM tool that includes Document management and Web content managment features. Its a very scalable product that is been tested and recommended by a large community. Alfresco is also slowly releasing the PAAS version with the latest versions.
What do you dislike about the product?
Alfresco is a very popular product and has very less demerits. One important demerit of Alfresco Content Services is initial learning curve, the user neeed to undergo initial training to start using Alfresco Content Services and it might be little difficult to get started without any training unless the user is tech savvy. Another demerit of Alfresco Content Services has been its Alfresco Share User Interface, though Alfresco has introduced Alfresco Digital workspace based on Angular UI but that needs additional learning and training to support. Unlike many other ECM tool, Alfresco support needs additional expertise and experience.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Alfresco Content Services is used to solve any Document Management related pain areas for any organization. As it also has the ECM features, It is a very popular tool for all ECM implementations and Record Management implementations.

An open source ECM with lots of features.
What do you like best about the product?
Alfresco is one of the few OpenSource ECMs available out in the market.
The community edition is free with basic features but for enterprise level usage license cost is involved. Alfresco is robust, scalable, with a lot of scope for integration and custom development as per the business need.
UI is clean and users are easy to train also, additional UI enabler tools can be integrated with Alfresco to enhance the UI capabilities.
Being web based, it's easy to access the ECM from anywhere, any browser.

What do you dislike about the product?
Though alfresco is OpenSource, the extended enterprise level features are licensed at a cost.
UI is clean, but requires users to scroll up and down through the entire webpage to get information about the documents - there is a lot of scope for addition of UI features.
Document import is a little slow.
The organisation will strictly need a skilled recource to help maintain the sotware.
Performance is also slower as compared to other ECMs.

Alfresco - Document Solutions
What do you like best about the product?
This software is a solution to going paperless (if you have not already). It allows multiple users to access documents, and folders to be created to easily organize documents according to your needs. You can also send hyperlinks to others that will take them straight to the document in question.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's slow to load documents, and requires files to be renamed if you wish to search by file name.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Alfresco Content Services allows cross-collaboration between departments. In higher education, departments are often siloed and this software helps institutions function as more of an ecosystem rather than individualized departments.
