Asana is a great tool that we use to manage the status of projects as well as manage personal tasks

  • December 28, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like how I can forward an email to an address and it will create an asana task so I can move through my emails in an efficient manner.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish there was an easier way to see tasks you are added as a watcher to. There have been times when a co-worker is "assigned" to a task and I've been added as a watcher but I do not see it on my dashboard.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using it to keep track of projects, to send out weekly requests for status updates, as well as use it for operational task delegation
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Asana is a great tool to keep track of projects, to send out weekly requests for status updates, as well as use it for operational task delegation.

It's fine for smaller projects

  • December 22, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana is simple to use and great for organizing small-scale projects.
What do you dislike about the product?
For larger projects, Asana doesn't do a great job with organization. It is hard to move tasks around.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asana helps with tracking tasks, and assigning tasks to people. It is simple to use and the user interface is very intuitive. I work with a software team of 7-10 people and it is great seeing who is working on who. However, we have tried to use this with 30 + people and it got hectic. Therefore, it is most useful splitting it into smaller groups.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is simple to use, and easy to keep track of projects and members who are doing tasks. However, it can be hard to organize because it is difficult to get too granular with tasks and keeping them up to date.

Simple and powerful tool to manage tasks

  • December 18, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Task reminders and the fact that there is the My Tasks screen, where you can lookif you find yourself doing nothing. Oh, and it's great for tracking responsibility.
What do you dislike about the product?
The fact that you don't need to save or confirm anything. It's a hidden pro, really. It makes the work way faster but it takes time to get used to.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Organization, task management, responsibility tracking, and always being on top of things. Well, provided that everyone marks their progress and comment on tasks. Oh, and it's a great place for discussion, including file sharing.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The tool is great but good luck contacting their support. All I got were automated messages. To be fair, we fit in the free user category so maybe they prioritize paying customers.

Task Management for Teams

  • December 15, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The search function is pretty good at finding every task or file related to your search query (even on completed tasks). Tagging projects and tasks helps our team keep campaigns organized instead of just floating around somewhere in Asana. When you upload images, they upload with a thumbnail preview so you can see what the file is before even opening it.

The addition of "boards" allows our team to move projects from one stage to the next and is a nice visual element to Asana. The "copy task" functionality saves me time on repeated tasks, which is huge for me each week. The abiilty to "pin to top" is especially helpful for long threads because you can keep important messages and/or files in clear view instead of buried within a long conversation back and forth with team members. Finally, the two-verification method when deleting a task is nice because the platform doesn't just get rid of something immediately--it makes you confirm it before deleting it from the backend.
What do you dislike about the product?
The biggest drawback of Asana for me is the inability to edit comments. Users can only delete and type a new one. This seems like a simple thing to add especially when followers and @ mentions get an email notification of every new update to a task.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
More organization with projects and campaign management.

Comprehensive, but not intuitive

  • December 15, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The various editing features allowing you to make edits and changes to just about any piece of a task, project, sub task, etc. You can customize your project plans as much as you want and get as absolutely detailed as you need to with no limits.
What do you dislike about the product?
There doesn't seem to be an efficient way to quickly filter or sort your tasks. We tried using it to keep track of our recruiting efforts in one company department. It was hard to navigate the 300+ candidates effectively between 5 people.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Organization, project management, multi-team collaboration. For some of our departments, it has become the project software of choice.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's simple and plug and play but to really dig into the features you will have to watch some YouTube or internal site instructional videos. There's alot of normal keystrokes or mouse clicks you would do with other software that do the same things, but with Asana they do other things. It can get frustrating when you mean to go back in the browser and you accidentally go someplace else in the software.

Good list view, project management without CRM

  • December 14, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
List view for tasks, price point, multiple users, templates and triggered workflows
What do you dislike about the product?
No priority for task list (if same due date), no time tracking, no client contact records
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I needed a place for project management for my small team that DIDN'T incorporate a CRM/Sales pipeline (this isn't a huge prio for me.) It needed to be at a budget price point and allow me to setup my own triggered workflows. It's a perfect user amount/cost (up to five for under $50/mo) and allows me to set up templates for specific projects. Tasks can be assigned and *added quickly* from the to-do list view. Tasks don't have to live in projects and can be triggered or dependant on previous items.
I can color code tags,

I had used Asana three years ago and at first was resistant to giving it another shot. It's very different now!

A helpful tool for to-do lists.

  • December 12, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Several things I like:
I like that you can have comprehensive lists. Sometimes I have projects that have several to-do lists for parts of the projects and this keeps everything together yet separate. The sublists option is really, really helpful to keep things organized.
It's very helpful that you can tag lists to make it easier to find your information.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is nothing really to dislike, I enjoy the layout and tools available (especially for free.) It would be nice if you could customize more of the features like color and fonts but that COULD be a service offered if you upgrade which I have not.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I just this for my small business, keeping track of to do lists. I am also currently incorporating the use into the non-profit I work for. It's also nice to log on and see your list but you can use your phone to get to the list when you are out and about.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Take your time to really explore the features and watch tutorials online. There are a lot of free courses and advice so you can not waste time re-inventing the wheel.

Very Useful

  • December 05, 2017

What do you like best about the product?
Staying organized is easy in this program. It allows you to keep track of multiple projects at one time, and include collaborators, who can receive updates as the project progresses. The best part of the app is having the ability to set up clear deadlines, expectations, and instructions, in one organized place. Accountability is key in our business, and this allows us to track individual projects at the progress through the production process. Without some way to stay organized, we would be relagated to the old days of emails and post-it-notes.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish there were a way to set up more conditional filtering. The more projects you have, the harder it is to keep track of what each one's status is at any given time. I would like to see the service create a way to filter your projects by due date, status, and collaborator. It would make the app a lot more powerful if notification could be global for certain aspects, such as completion of projects, but select notifications for non-critical updates.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Large group project management across multiple departments with upwards of 10 individuals. The software allows us to keep each other up to date on all of our pending projects without having to result to phone calls, text messages, or emails. Now we just check the app before we interrupt our colleague with status updates.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This is a powerful organizational software that can be up and running quickly with new team members and collaborators.

Free and easy to use task management

  • November 29, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that it's a free tool, yet full of features. It even has a mobile app that syncs well with the web site. My husband and I used it to keep track of all the tasks we needed to do to sell our house. It was nice to be able to assign different tasks to each other and mark them off as needed. We also added comments to the tasks whenever we'd make a phone call or needed to add any other notes. This is a great tool for business or personal use.
What do you dislike about the product?
The biggest complaint I've seen is regarding the performance of the app. I've seen people say that it is slow. This has never been a problem for me personally, but it might be worth Asana keeping an eye on.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
For business we have used the tool to track tasks and assign them to specific people. Asana also allows us to set due-dates which makes it easier for us to check in on the status of what everyone should be doing.
