easy setup, a lot of config options, useful results

nothing but BI schould be less complex for beginners, more examples in the online hell like regex expressions.

One monitoring tool to rule them all
What do you like best about the product?
What I like best is the enormous amount of systems and services it can monitor "out of the box". I almost haven't found a thing I can't monitor. And for those very few things that I couldn't, I wrote my own checks.
Also, the fact that almost everything is detected automatically makes it very easy to use and set up. No need to dig into configuration files manually; just click and go.
And if I do run into an issue just contact the CheckMK staff. My experience is that they respond quickly and help get the issue resolved.

What do you dislike about the product?
As I did mention, it can monitor almost everything. For new users this can be a bit overwhelming. Then again, as it's easy to manage using the GUI, you'll get used to it soon enough.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
In our old monitoring tool we did not have monitoring for the Windows Server log facility. As this is standard in CheckMK we were able to monitor these. From what we found in these logs we were able to identify and solve issues that slowed down our systems but hadn't noted before.
Also we gained more insight on what was happening in our Tomcat servers allowing us to tune them better.

Checkmk, a network monitor without limits
What do you like best about the product?
Checkmk allows so many types of monitoring that it can handle basic monitoring and very advanced monitoring, even custom monitoring of your specific applications.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not necessarily something to be "fixed", but because it can do so many things, there's a lot to its interface.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We're monitoring almost 10,000 services across just 170 hosts. That's more monitoring than any other product we've tried. Checkmk helps us to respond proactively to situations before things become critical. It has also found problems that we did not know we had. Because it is fairly simple to add custom local checks and plugins, we're able monitor clear down to the api level, the requests coming into our microservices. Custom graphs, reports and dashboarding allow you to see or get the information you want, however you want.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Checkmk ticks so many boxes, and we had a lot of them! When we reviewed about a dozen monitoring tools back in 2016, we chose, then, check_mk (raw), because there was very little it couldn't do. It was so valuable to the company that we bought the enterprise produce which comes with even more features. If you want everything monitored, CheckMk is best in class.

How easily the software may be extended to custom environments.

Limitations around dynamic checks; would like to have service checks come into existence and vanish quickly for specific items.

We have a considerable amount of customer software running in the environment, and some of it lacks support. CheckMK allows us to keep tabs on thousands of systems easily.
Continuously learning with Check_MK
What do you like best about the product?
I like the variety of checks that can be done easily through their agents. If the default agent doesn't have all the functionality I need I can add in plugins or even create my own plugins.
What do you dislike about the product?
The biggest problem with check_mk is having to change my thought process. Having started in Nagios with configuration files, I'm having to retrain myself in the use of rules, labels, and a GUI interface for configuration.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are now able to easily monitor systems with an intelligent agent with a single check, without having to deploy multiple agents or scripts for a better view of systems. We are finally getting rid of only ping checks on systems. Plus we are using a distributed system for monitoring, which allows us to put more of the development of new checks on the larger groups that will run their own check-MK servers.

We use Grafana as a dashboard tool, i would like to see something similar in cmk

Check_MK is a monitoring system, we do not solve Problems with it, we identify Problems with it, that's what it's made for
I`m using Check_MK over 7 years. It`s very powerfull and comfortable monitoring tool.

Syslog monitoring network equipment and servers. Very easy to write own plugins for monitoring.

I like everything that did in this system. Didn`t find the negative side.

The system provides complete control of the network, which consists of equipment from different manufacturers.

The variety of checks and plugins that are available, as well as log file information that helps me prevent many problems in my environment, I find it a complete tool.
What do you dislike about the product?
I didn't like the dashboard of version 2.0, I think the one from version 1.6 is better, but I was readjusting, an importer of MIB was also interesting as it could improve my type of checking.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The fact that he informs me about the problems being recorded in the Windows logs helps me detect various issues in my corporate environment, saving time from having to analyze the logs machine by machine.

What do you like best about the product?
CheckMK is easy to setup and manage. Upgrades are simple to perform.
What do you dislike about the product?
CheckMK has a fairly steep learning curve.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I've been alerted to services being down and been able to fix the issues before users notice there's a problem.

CheckMK is a great tool that, once you figure out how it works, is easy to use.

What do you like best about the product?
Checkmk has the ability for real-time monitoring and has a nice dashboard with visual warnings.
What do you dislike about the product?
Overall, sensitivity is difficult to calibrate, but overall works great.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Problems I have identified with Checkmk would be disk space getting low or disconnected servers are reported with a nice visual red solid circle to mark that it is down.
