Access Projects Anywhere without Installations Needed

    Reviewed on Jul 15, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
I can access my projects from anywhere without worrying about installations.
What do you dislike about the product?
Creating and editing tables in drawings isn’t very intuitive, and some common formatting or editing tasks take more effort than they really should.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Onshape simplifies collaboration and version control by keeping everything in the cloud. It eliminates file management issues, ensures everyone works on the latest version, and makes it easy to access projects.

Versioning That Makes Revisiting Past Designs Easy

    Reviewed on Jul 15, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
It has versioning features which help a lot to dig the previous design version when we have some issues with the deployed instrument with the old version.
What do you dislike about the product?
The merging feature seems like merging feature on OnShape works for part studio feature tree, it is not that easy merging the part on a part studio.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With traditional CAD methods, it is pretty time-consuming to share the files; you have to upload the files to the cloud, and the user has to download them, and then it also takes time to manage file history. Right now, the cloud system from Onshape and the history tracking help me a lot.

What do you like best about the product?
It has solid PDM capabilities with a Git-style workflow. It’s easy to use and intuitive, runs in the cloud, and doesn’t require a powerful computer. It’s also cheaper than the alternatives I’ve tried.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing so far, it doesn’t crash every hour like the main competitor. Your files are always available, even via smartphone
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
visual rendering at the level of expensive software like KeyShot, CAM ability.

Intuitive CAD Solution with Excellent Support

    Reviewed on Jul 14, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
I really appreciate Onshape's ease of use, especially since I don't come from a CAD background. It facilitates the design of products and makes it possible for customers to review and make amendments before manufacturing. Communication between staff on the workshop floor and with customers is much easier. The learning center is very good, and the forums are extremely helpful with loads of members willing to help and offer assistance. Setting it up was very easy; I just took part in a training course and started using it for work. I'm also pleased that Onshape integrates well with our CNC plasma cutter as I can create parts and export them for manufacturing, and it allows me to export parts in STEP format to send them to other companies for manufacturing.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would like to be able to pay for a rolling monthly subscription.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Onshape helps us design products and allows customers to review and make amendments before manufacturing. It improves communication between staff and customers. The ease of use is beneficial even for those without a CAD background.

Intuitive, Browser-Based CAD with Regular Updates and Great Training Resources

    Reviewed on Jul 14, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
Onshape is intuitive and easy to use. It also gets regular updates, so new features roll out and improvements happen all the time. I really like that it’s browser-based, because it means I don’t need an overly powerful computer to run it smoothly. If anything happens, my progress is automatically saved, which gives me real peace of mind. The training resources and help center are genuinely useful too, and it’s convenient to come back to them anytime to refresh my memory on tools or features whenever I get a little stuck, and if the resources there don't answer your question, the Onshape community forum will help out with tips and tricks
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing specific comes to mind. I haven’t used every CAD program out there, but I do use a couple of other tools for smaller, more specialized tasks (e.g., working with Revit files). Overall, Onshape is a solid all-rounder.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Onshape provides our company with a CAD tool that is easy to scale and simple to deploy to team members spread across multiple locations and countries. It also makes collaboration straightforward, so it’s easy for us to work on projects together within Onshape.

    Effortless Collaboration with Continuous Updates

    Reviewed on Jul 14, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
I like how simple Onshape is to use. It really helps me to share my drawings across multiple users, clients, and suppliers, and displays my drawings well. I can test the products when I design custom hinges and hardware, and I also love that I can do 3D printing for different objects, which is really fantastic. I appreciate how they continuously update the products along with all their features and tools. The initial setup was very, very easy, and the training they provided was also easy to follow.
What do you dislike about the product?
On the drawings themselves, when converting things to drawings, I definitely see room for improvement there. It just seems to have difficulty creating your own templates. Even that in itself seems like too much hard work. It doesn't seem easy enough to just do a quick simple little drawing. Some sort of button that simplifies the process of quickly auto dimensioning would be helpful. I'm sure this won't work for everything, but something simple like a square plate should be easier. Also the training videos need to be updated.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Onshape helps me share my drawings easily with clients and suppliers, and I can test and design custom parts with moving and working models. I also use it for 3D printing different objects and rendering.

    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
It's a software that isn't limited; it has everything you need for 3D modeling, its workspaces are very good, and it's very easy to learn.
What do you dislike about the product?
It only has a few very minor limitations when it comes to making plans; it could be automated.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Especially for production, it's excellent to review things in detail.

FeatureScript Makes Onshape a Powerful, Flexible CAD Platform

    Reviewed on Jul 14, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
Onshape's biggest differentiator is the featurescript programming capabilities. Its a much more powerful method of building macro layers into your CAD than using something like VBA. Since it is native, we are getting full capabilities that give us the flexibility to tie Onshape into our existing systems with the tweaking required to make it fast and flexible.

The teams are highly supportive and attentive to our feedback. When we request change they are exited to support us and our unique use case.

Pricing is fair but a little more than base solidworks.
What do you dislike about the product?
We've noticed a few hiccups since it is cloud based, we can definitely tell when it is update day as the service slows down during that time.

Like most other companies, Onshape is spending a lot of resources on AI but I worry it is pulling them away from making the product better for general usage. AI is expensive.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We produce a lot of models. Onshape reduced that time to model, at a friendly and engaging way. Its faster in every way.

Revolutionized Our Engineering Workflow with Customization

    Reviewed on Jul 14, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate Onshape's full-service PDM capabilities, which allow me to focus on being a subject matter expert in manufacturing processes without needing to be a backend server administrator. The sheet metal engine is reliable and produces manufacturable geometry, so I spend less time auditing parts. I love that the features are open-source, enabling me to create my own tools to solve modeling problems, which makes entire classes of products possible without waiting for software updates. Onshape's ability to replace entire workflows with intelligent, one-click scripts has saved us months, if not years, of engineering labor. The initial setup was extremely easy for projects started natively in the software. I highly recommend it, as it truly supports our business model of creating unique, specialized products efficiently.
What do you dislike about the product?
Feature discovery is mostly done by forum search, and it isn't easy to sort the newest, most maintained versions of features from copies other people may have modified or not. CAM studio is also in need of some more work for router-based workflows and automation that works in our high mix low volume environment.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Onshape's full-service PDM means I focus on engineering, not server admin. Its sheet metal engine ensures reliable geometry, letting me focus on parts' purpose. Open-source features enable custom tool creation, replacing workflows with smart scripts, saving months of labor.

Monthly Updates and Hassle-Free Cross-Platform Collaboration

    Reviewed on Jul 14, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
The continual updates that happen each month as well as the ability to collaborate without the hassle of file check in / check out of other systems. If there is not a feature currently available it is likely already being worked or feature scripts help to bridge the gap. Cross platform also makes it easy to work on an operating system or even review items on mobile.
What do you dislike about the product?
The 2D drawing tool could use improvement, specifically it feels like a separate product in that multiple users cannot be in it at the same time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
There is low friction when it comes to the data management and collaboration.
