Truxton on AWS

I am a veteran Truxton user and was intrigued by the ability to order a premade Truxton instance directly from AWS. I viewed the Truxton AWS marketplace video, followed the easy steps, and was able to login into a fully functioning Truxton instance is just a few minutes. I selected the default instance, but you can go a big or as small as you need. Remember to provision enough storage for your needs.

The Truxton instance is BYOL (Bring your own license) which actually makes setup easier. I fired up Truxton, dropped in my license, and I was ready to go. At first, I upload two small images just to test the instance. It took only a few minutes to upload a compressed 40GB image (13 GB compressed). I was using a Verizon FIOS 400 Mb residential circuit, and it took 20 minutes to do the upload. The Truxton loader processed the 1st data set in less than 20 minutes.

Next, I uploaded a 250GB compressed image (30 GB compressed). It took 50 minutes to upload the data to the instance and 65 minutes for Truxton to load the data. I’m sold on Truxton in the AWS Marketplace.
