At Silicon Blocks we have embraced the power of open source software. The tools created by the open source community are used in many industries. The SiliconBlocks team are semiconductor design experts with a passion for enabling electronic engineers with the power of open source tools enabled by the affordability and scale of Amazon.com's web services. We originally developed this cloud environment to enable fast and free access to EDA tools to develop intellectual property elements for semiconductor design. We developed several high end interface IP blocks and sold them for distribution by other companies. In order to cost effectively develop the IP without incurring the high cost of commercial EDA tools, we developed this solution. It was so effective that we believed that others may want to gain the benefit of this platform as well. That is the spark that created SiliconBlocks.
