Hillmaru Golf & Resort Realizes Customer Satisfaction by Migrating Reservation System to AWS with DONGHOON Itech
Executive Summary
Hillmaru Golf & Resort, a luxury country club known for nature-friendly and unique courses, was building a new country club in Po-cheon, South Korea set to open in 2022. The company reached out to DONGHOON Itech, an AWS Partner to support the opening with a new, stable, and scalable infrastructure built for it’s new resort. Hillmaru needed a infrastructure to run major business applications, including the reservation system which they anticipated would see spikes in use. In consultation with AWS Partner ETEVERS, DONGHOON Itech implemented a new billing and reservation system on AWS to support both the new country club as well as the previous location located in Chang-nyeong.
Stability and Scalability, a Necessity
AWS Partner DONGHOON Itech’s customer Hillmaru sought for a scalable and stable infrastructure architecture in running applications. After undergoing reviews, determined that only a cloud-based service could meet its infrastructure requirements, and it considered a range of cloud-service providers before deciding to use Amazon Web Services (AWS)
In order to establish an infrastructure environment for the construction of new country club, DONGHOON Itech needed support from ETEVERS, an AWS Partner which suggested an architecture and financial model with AWS to reduce existing hardware maintenance demand, perform infrastructure maintenance, and respond smoothly to unexpected customer demands over time.
As DONHOON Itech experience building AWS solutions was in development, it was crucial to collaborate with ETEVERS from the start of consulting, handling technical inquiries and billing.
Choosing the Right Cloud Provider
AWS was introduced to reduce existing hardware maintenance demand, perform infrastructure maintenance, and respond smoothly to unexpected customer demands over time.
Specifically, AWS Security feature was used as cloud allows easy access to workloads anytime, anywhere, and for this reason, a security and workload access control solution for the workload itself is essential. The security of the workload itself requires not only the antivirus function, but also the functions that were responsible for on-premise board security such as IDS/IPS and Firewall. In addition, it must have the ability to protect the application itself, the integrity of the log, and the real-time threat update function using threat intelligence that can defend against zero-day attacks.
Additionally, when using various SaaS services, SSO (Single Sign-On) and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) configuration management must be performed through vulnerability check, status monitoring, and compliance check for each workload.
Working Together to Offer a Strong Solution
By collaborating with ETEVERS, DONGHOON Itech was able to provide the proper technical consultation and implement a new infrastructure for Hillmaru Golf & Resort. Not only consult and build technically but also proceeding on AWS PoC (Proof of Concept) to accelerate AWS adoption.
First, the service was built using Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) and Amazon Relational Database Services (Amazon RDS), which are core services, in a basic 3-tier configuration. In order to prevent external intrusion, the infrastructure was configured on a private subnet and duplicated to increase operational stability. In addition, it is set to flexibly expand and contract the infrastructure through AWS Auto Scaling. Database was configured using Amazon RDS for easy and quick deployment and simple operation. Since it is a service that an unspecified number of customers need to use, Amazon CloudFront is used to transmit content more safely and at a faster speed. Since it was configured in a private environment, a VPN was installed and web security was reinforced with a 3rd party WAF service so that internal officials or developers can access it smoothly. In order to check the status of the infrastructure, the Amazon CloudWatch service is also configured so that indicators and logs collected in real time can be collected and visualized on the dashboard. Moreover, ETEVERS guided DOONGHOON Itech’s sales representatives on how to write quotations and provided ETEVERS’ own billing system service, Billing-On, to manage and monitor its billing.
Likewise, ETEVERS generously supported DONGHOON Itech in constructing services on AWS and they configured AWS infrastructure environment.
Customer Finds Satisfaction in a New and Cost Saving Reservation Tool
ETEVERS and DONGHOON were able to mitigate the customer’s security concerns of the cloud through established experience as 20 year security provider, AWS Security Services, and third-party tooling. DONGHOON Itech is continuously discovering competitive solutions in the web security and solution service field to provide prompt and safe service to customers. As a result, a system was established by introducing a cloud service that reduced initial investment costs by 35% compared to on-premises. Specifically, the flexible infrastructure environment built for the reservation system is used by more than 80% of Hillmaru’s end customers.
