“We really like the ability to create custom dashboards with varying levels of access across the organization for a specific team or a specific individual’s performance indicators, and they can use that to help make decisions every day. We're making better decisions faster because of Domo, which is a huge competitive advantage.”
Dean Jones CEO, GlamCorner

GlamCorner has a simple philosophy: To bring high-end fashion and clothing to every woman. With this philosophy and unique business model, the company was fortunate enough to see rapid growth, but much of its insights into the business were through trial and error. Without detailed and accurate data, management couldn’t see where the bottlenecks were. As the company began to scale, it was left guessing as to how to help the business reach its potential. The company needed the ability to promote action, closing the loop between awareness and execution.

The company identified two primary opportunities to help overcome the hurdles to their business. It first needed insights into its inventory and performance over time. If analysts were able to see how items performed over a period, they would be able to better identify opportunities to upsell and reposition inventory as well as influence purchasing decisions.

Additionally, they were looking for real-time data instead of updates to inventory every week or month. “Having up-to-date, easily accessible insights into our businesses performance was crucial in finding the bottlenecks and addressing our focus on how to make this business more profitable at scale,” says Dean Jones, CEO of GlamCorner. With real-time data the merchandising team would be able to see how stock is performing at any given time enabling decisions to re-price, move up the funnel towards customers, or sell when items have reached the end of their shelf life. Because fashion trends can change so quickly, having real-time access to data is invaluable and allows managers to better allocate resources.

GlamCorner faced an issue common with newer companies: Rapid growth can lead to siloed data, adding a level of complexity in achieving a unified view of the truth. The company was performing analytics with 10 different tools against a number of different data types causing an undue burden on IT staff.

GlamCorner, an existing Amazon Web Services (AWS) customer, knew that a data analytics solution would provide a beneficial ROI and level of service. What the company needed, however, was the expertise of a partner with a solution that could help normalize disparate data sets and provide the ability to deliver deep insights along with real-time views of inventory.

After assessing a number of solutions, the company selected Domo, a leading provider of a modern business intelligence and data analytics platform that takes advantage of the power and flexibility of AWS.

With Domo in place, GlamCorner could unify and migrate their data to be used more efficiently. Once an audit of all data had been performed, they were able to use the appropriate selection of Domo designed data connectors. These are a library of more than 450 connectors covering virtually all data types that enable access to business data from anywhere, across an entire organization. Once this was achieved, the data structure was uploaded to Domo’s datacenter—which resides on AWS--where BI specialists could build views and create groups for business users to gain access to their needed data.

With the Domo solution in place, GlamCorner has realized their two-fold vision of gaining insights into inventory and performance over time while being able to analyze real-time data to make agile business decisions. “Making higher-quality decisions sooner indicates headway for us. We're only just getting started with Domo,” say Jones. “It's hard for a team to perform at its peak if it doesn't have insights into its performance. I'm looking forward to rolling out Domo across more of the areas of our business.”

The merchandising team uses Domo every day to see how stock is performing and to identify which items to reprice, move up the funnel towards customers, or sell when items have reached the end of their shelf life. Because fashion trends can change so quickly, having real-time access to the data is invaluable and allows leaders to better allocate resources. Team members can now see data on dashboards that are directed specifically to their responsibilities, and collaboration between teams and employees has never been easier. Progress is built into every chart, which allows teams to set goals and see how they are improving.

“We really like the ability to create custom dashboards with varying levels of access across the organization for a specific team or a specific individual’s performance indicators,” says Jones. “They can also use that to help make decisions every day. We're making better decisions faster because of Domo, which is a huge competitive advantage.”

With Domo, GlamCorner can make business decisions more quickly, putting it ahead of the competition. The CEO can look at a dashboard of the top eight KPIs to make sure everything is on track as he allocates resources. The Domo solution has helped prevent multiple problems—for example, when an important email with a faulty link went out to customers, the company was able to see the sales drop quickly and could pinpoint the issue much faster, saving tens of thousands of dollars a day in lost sales.
