Granulate Uses Its Validated AWS Skills to Customize Its Business, Help Customers Cut Cloud Costs by Up to 60%, and Reduce Response Time by 40%

Executive Summary

Granulate leverages its AWS Service Ready designation to differentiate its products to customers as Amazon Linux 2 Ready Products. This means the company’s products work with Amazon Linux 2 and are ready to drive growth and help organizations optimize their AWS workloads. Granulate uses its validated AWS technology skills to customize its business, help customers reduce cloud costs by up to 60 percent, and reduce response time by 40 percent.

Partner Success Story – Granulate

As companies increasingly move applications to the cloud, they are seeking new ways to reduce costs and increase performance. Granulate was founded to solve these challenges. A startup based in Tel Aviv, Israel, Granulate offers a real-time continuous optimization solution for organizations running applications on Amazon Web Services (AWS). “When the Granulate agent is installed on customers’ machines, it optimizes applications at the operating system level to improve throughput and performance,” says Nadav Tzuker, Business Development Manager for Granulate.

An AWS Partner and a member of the AWS ISV Accelerate program, Granulate deploys its solution on Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2), Amazon Elastic Container Service (Amazon ECS), Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS), and Amazon EMR workloads. “We have put a lot of effort into expanding our partnership with AWS,” says Tzuker. “AWS continues to assist us with ongoing sales and marketing projects, in addition to providing us with new technologies and services.”

In 2021, Granulate achieved an Amazon Linux 2 Ready Product designation, with the AWS Service Ready Program. These designations mean that its solution passed a technical validation to run on the Amazon Linux 2 operating system and has successful customer adoption. To qualify for the designations, Granulate had to run quality assurance and security tests on its software and provide support for its products on Amazon Linux 2.

“With an Amazon Linux 2 Ready Product, we can now offer specialized solutions to reach customers that are a better technical fit for us.”

Taking a Customized Approach with Amazon Linux 2 Ready

As an Amazon Linux 2 Ready Partner, Granulate can provide more specialized customer offerings. “Having the AWS Service Ready designation for Amazon Linux 2 Ready Products has helped us take a more customized approach to our business,” says Tzuker. “For example, we have technical requirements related to the Linux 2 programming language. With an Amazon Linux 2 Ready Product, we can now offer specialized solutions to reach customers that are a better technical fit for us.”

With its Amazon Linux 2 expertise, the company is able to help many of its customers provide a better user experience. For instance, the Granulate solution learns application-specific data patterns and processing states to tailor Linux 2 resource management for customers who can then allocate cloud resources based on application usage patterns. “With Granulate, everything is optimized,” says Tzuker. “Our solution decreases latency and it reduces noise for developers because there are fewer machines and workloads to manage. As a result, developers have more time to increase their efficiency and the quality of the code, which leads to higher retention rates and more satisfied customers.”

Reducing Cloud Spend by 60%, Lowering Response Time by 40%

By optimizing application performance, Granulate customers pay less for their cloud computing costs while also improving application performance overall. For example, Granulate has helped customers including Singular, a marketing intelligence platform; Bigabid, an advertising technology company; and Nativo, a content technology provider. “Because our solution optimizes AWS workloads and the number of services consumed, our customers can see cost reductions of up to 60 percent,” says Tom Amsterdam, Cofounder and Vice President of Product for Granulate. “In addition, they see their application response times cut by up to 40 percent and job completion times for big data workloads decrease by around 35 percent.” Customers do not need to invest in creating their own optimization solutions to achieve these results because Granulate is an agent that sits on top of each customer workload and performs optimization based on Granulate’s specific technology.

“We completed two rounds of financing last year, and our AWS partnership helped drive that. We always demonstrate the impact of our AWS partnership to prospective customers and financing companies.”

Fueling Business Growth

Granulate has experienced significant business growth since its founding. “We have had 300 percent year-over-year growth in revenue for the past two years, and we have seen a tenfold increase in CPU cores for our customers in the past year,” says Amsterdam. Through its AWS partnership, Granulate expects to accelerate this growth. “We completed two rounds of financing last year, and our AWS partnership helped drive that,” Amsterdam says. “We always demonstrate the impact of our AWS partnership to prospective customers and financing companies.”

Granulate has also recently launched a new product, gProfiler, an open source platform that helps organizations measure the performance of code production for cloud applications. Tzuker says, “Through new products like gProfiler, we will keep helping our customers optimize application performance and reduce costs.”
