"account is in an invalid state"


When I try to perform an action in the AWS Management Console, I receive the error message “Please contact customer service, your account is in an invalid state.” What should I do?

This error usually occurs when your account isn’t fully activated. Follow the steps at How do I create and activate a new Amazon Web Services account? to make sure that your account is fully activated.

Note: AWS accounts can take up to 24 hours to fully activate. If your account was created recently, wait a few hours.

If you follow those steps but still receive the error message, check the inbox of the email address associated with the root credentials of your account. Occasionally, AWS requires additional documents or verification steps to fully activate your account.

If none of these steps resolve your problem, create a case with AWS Support and choose Account and Billing Support.
