"account is in an invalid state"


I received the error message “Please contact customer service, your account is in an invalid state.” What should I do?

This error usually occurs when your account isn’t fully activated.

Note: AWS accounts can take up to 24 hours to fully activate. If your account was created recently, wait a few hours.

Try the following:

  • Verify your account is activated. For more information, see How do I create and activate a new Amazon Web Services account?
  • Check the inbox of the email address associated with the AWS account root user of your account. Occasionally, AWS requires additional documents or verification steps to fully activate your account.

If the error message persists, create a case with AWS Support, and then choose Account and Billing Support.
