I want to help make sure my account and resources stay secure by adding an MFA device. How do I do that?

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) adds an extra layer of security to your resources by requiring a code provided by a specific device when someone signs in.

For instructions on how to add a physical MFA token to a root account or IAM user, see Enabling a Hardware MFA Device.

For instructions on how to add a virtual or software MFA to a root account or IAM user, see Enabling a Virtual Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) Device.
