Do I need to maintain my own backups for AWS resources, or does AWS do that for me?

AWS doesn't keep backups of your resources by default, but most AWS services offer backup solutions.

For example, you can back up your EC2 instances by using AMIs and EBS snapshots, and you can create periodic snapshots of your RDS databases.

For more information about how to back up or maintain redundancy for a particular service's resources, see that service's documentation at AWS Documentation.
