How do I migrate from an AWS Classic VPN to a new AWS VPN?

Resolution

Check the category of your existing VPN connection. For more information, see AWS Site-to-Site VPN Categories.

If your existing VPN connection is an AWS Classic VPN connection, you can migrate to a new AWS VPN connection by following these steps:

  1. Create a new virtual private gateway and AWS VPN connection.
  2. Detach the old virtual private gateway from your Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (Amazon VPC).
  3. Attach the new virtual private gateway to your Amazon VPC connection.

For detailed steps on migrating to a new AWS VPN connection, see Migrating to AWS VPN.

After you make these changes, you can use features supported only on AWS VPN connections. For a complete list of these features, see AWS Site-to-Site VPN Categories.
