How do I enable and use the validation feature in AWS Database Migration Service (AWS DMS)?

Resolution

Before you enable and use the validation feature, see the limitations for validating AWS DMS tasks.

Enabling validation on a new task

  1. Open the AWS DMS console, and choose Database migration tasks from the navigation pane.
  2. Choose Create task.
  3. Enter the details for your Task configuration and Task settings.
  4. From the Task settings section, select Enable validation and Enable CloudWatch logs.
  5. Configure the Advanced task settings, if needed.
  6. Choose Create task.

Enabling validation on an existing task

  1. Open the AWS DMS console, and choose Database migration tasks from the navigation pane.
  2. Select your task, and check that the status of the task is Failed or Stopped.
  3. Choose Actions, and then choose Modify.
  4. From the Task settings section, check Enable validation.
  5. Choose Save.

Viewing the results of the validation

  1. Open the AWS DMS console, and choose Database migration tasks from the navigation pane.
  2. Choose the name of your task.
  3. From the Table statistics section, review the results. For more information, see Replication Task Statistics.

Revalidating tables in a task

  1. Open the AWS DMS console, and choose Database migration tasks from the navigation pane.
  2. Choose the name of your task.
  3. From the Table statistics section, select the table and choose Validate again.
  4. To review the validation metrics, choose Database migration tasks from the navigation pane. 
  5. Choose the name of the task, and review the Migration task metrics section.
