Michael shows you how to
connect to a Workspace
from your web browser

I want to connect to WorkSpaces, but I'd prefer not to use the Amazon WorkSpaces client. Can I do that, and if so, how?

Before getting started, note the requirements for Amazon WorkSpaces web access. The only currently supported Windows OS is Windows 7.

Note: Official AWS WorkSpaces images created after November 18th, 2016 include the Web Access agent by default. If your WorkSpace was created using a custom image based on an earlier version of an AWS WorkSpaces image, your organization might need to create a new custom image based on a later version of the AWS WorkSpaces image.

If you make changes to your WorkSpace's web access settings, your WorkSpace must be rebuilt.

If your browser and WorkSpace meet the requirements, you can enable web access for your WorkSpace by performing these steps:

  1. From the Directories pane of the WorkSpaces console, select the directory your WorkSpace is in.
  2. Choose Actions, Update Details.
  3. Expand the Web Access section and choose Enabled.
  4. Choose Update.

If necessary, rebuild your WorkSpace. After the web access settings changes have taken effect, you can access WorkSpaces in the directory using a compatible web browser.
