Amazon Chime SDK to power video for new Salesforce Anywhere application

Amazon Web Services and Salesforce are further strengthening their global strategic partnership by announcing the use of the Amazon Chime SDK to power video communications in the new Salesforce Anywhere application. Announced at TrailheaDX 2020, Salesforce Anywhere is a new app to enable more effective collaboration embedded within Salesforce. The Amazon Chime SDK will enable users to attend video calls at any time without leaving Salesforce Anywhere.

End users and teams need to stay productive regardless if they are at work, on-the-go, or increasingly, at home. Video has become a critical tool for end users to stay connected to coworkers and customers. Salesforce Anywhere and the Amazon Chime SDK will allow users across supported devices to add video at any time. Instead of video calling as a destination in another application, end users will save time by staying within context and using video to get work done in Salesforce.

Video sits atop the Salesforce page you’re working on

Whether it’s a sales rep that needs to collaborate with their account team on a priority sales pursuit or a service organization that needs to escalate on a support ticket, end users can connect immediately over video from within Salesforce. Teams will also view the same page using Salesforce Anywhere co-browsing, enabling everyone to stay up to date on the latest content.

When deciding to embed video into Salesforce Anywhere, Salesforce turned to Amazon Chime and their strategic partnership with AWS. Salesforce will use the Amazon Chime SDK due to the breadth of AWS services, security capabilities, and reliability. The Amazon Chime SDK also gives builders like Salesforce control over the end user experience. In addition to launching a native meeting service to end users via Salesforce Anywhere, Salesforce will also expose video as a building block for its developer ecosystem through the Customer 360 Platform.

“In this digital work-from-anywhere world, video conferencing has become an essential part of how we stay connected,” said Ryan Aytay, Chief Business Officer, Salesforce. “We have been working closely with AWS to launch Service Cloud Voice, which includes native integrations with Amazon Connect, so intelligent voice support can be offered from anywhere. Now we are excited to build upon our strategic partnership with AWS by enabling a new video experience for Salesforce customers using the Amazon Chime SDK.”

Your developers can leverage the same communication infrastructure to deliver engaging experiences in your applications. Visit the Amazon Chime SDK page to learn more about the service, including features and pricing.
