New Features

Change Description

AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) - Instance Profiles

IAM Instance Profiles allow you to securely deliver AWS credentials directly to your Amazon EC2 instances. You can use the updated IAM API, or the AWS Management Console to create IAM Instance Profiles, then launch instances using that profile to have your AWS credentials securely distributed to the Amazon EC2 instances running your application.

The Amazon EC2 and Auto Scaling APIs have been updated so that you can launch instances or create Auto Scaling groups that take advantage of this new, easy to use, credentials distribution feature. The AWS SDK for PHP now automatically consumes IAM Instance Profile credentials distributed to your EC2 instances when no other credentials are provided.

Auto Scaling

  • Support for IAM Instance Profiles has been added to the SDK.
  • Support for specifying spot instances in Auto Scaling has been added to the SDK.

Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud

  • Support for IAM Instance Profiles has been added to the SDK.
  • Support for VM export tasks has been added to the SDK.
  • Support for AWS Marketplace product codes has been added to the SDK.
  • Support for an enhanced describe_instance_status has been added to the SDK.

Amazon ElastiCache

  • Support for reserved cache nodes has been added to the SDK.
