New Features

Change Description
Amazon EC2 Instance Status Checks

With this release, you can use the DescribeInstanceStatus action to retrieve results of automated checks performed by Amazon EC2. These status checks detect problems that may impair an instance's ability to run your applications. You can use ReportInstanceStatus to send us feedback or report an inaccurate instance status.

Amazon EC2 Elastic Network Interfaces (ENIs)

Elastic Network Interfaces are virtual network interfaces that can be attached to EC2 instances in your VPC. You can use Elastic Network Interfaces to run dual-homed network appliances in your VPC or create a back-end management network for your public facing instances. You can also move an Elastic Network Interface from one instance to another and network traffic to that interface will be directed to the new instance.

Please visit the Elastic Network Interfaces section in the Amazon EC2 User Guide for more information on using Elastic Network Interfaces in Amazon VPC.

Amazon EC2 VM Import

The Amazon EC2 VM Import APIs are now supported in the AWS SDK for Java. These APIs allow you to import your existing virtual machines to Amazon EC2 instances.

For more Information, see:

SDK Default Logging

The default request/response logging in the AWS SDK for Java has been changed from INFO to DEBUG level to produce less verbose logging output. Customers who still want to see the request/response summary logging can continue to output the logging information by configuring their application to use the DEBUG logging level.

Resolved Issues

Amazon S3 TransferManager Bug Fixes

The Amazon S3 TransferManager class was updated to address two bugs:

  • Possible data corruption when uploading from an InputStream and encountering IO errors during certain portions of the upload.
  • Cleanly shutting down timer threads when shutdownNow() is called on an instance of TransferManager.
