AWS Elastic Beanstalk extends Tag-Based Permissions

Posted on: Apr 5, 2019

AWS Elastic Beanstalk adds tagging and tag-based access control for four Elastic Beanstalk resources: applications, application versions, saved configurations, and custom platform versions.

Previously, AWS Elastic Beanstalk supported tagging and tag based access control using AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) policies for environments. Now, Elastic Beanstalk has extended tagging and tag-based access control to support applications, application versions, saved configurations, and custom platform versions in addition to environments.

Tags are simple labels consisting of a customer-defined key and an optional value that can make it easier to manage, search for, and filter resources. Although there are no inherent types of tags, tags enable customers to categorize resources by purpose, owner, or other criteria. For example, you can tag AWS Elastic Beanstalk application resources based on business units and use cost allocation reports to track your usage across various business units.
