AWS Cloud Map now supports resource tagging API and tags-on-create
You can now tag your AWS Cloud Map namespaces and services through the AWS Command Line Interface (AWS CLI), AWS CloudFormation or the AWS Software Development Kit (AWS SDK). AWS Cloud Map is a cloud resource discovery service. Using AWS Cloud Map, you can define custom names for your application resources, such as Amazon ECS tasks, Amazon EC2 instances, Amazon S3 buckets, or any other cloud resource. Your application can then discover the location and metadata of cloud resources associated with these custom names via AWS SDK or by making authenticated API calls.
A tag is a simple label consisting of a user-defined key and an optional value that can be used to easily manage, categorize and search for your resources, based on purpose, owner, environment or other criteria. Adding tags to namespaces and services provides a mechanism for custom categorization and enables controlling access to AWS Cloud Map resources using tags.
To get started, you can specify tags while creating new AWS Cloud Map namespaces and services, by passing optional parameters to the corresponding AWS CLI, AWS CloudFormation or AWS SDK commands. You can also add, edit or delete tags on your existing namespaces and services after creation. This functionality is available at no additional charge.
