Why was my credit card declined when I tried to pay my AWS bill?

I tried to pay an AWS bill or purchase a subscription, such as an Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) Reserved Instance, but the charge was unsuccessful because my credit card was declined.
If your payment method is declined when you try to pay your AWS bill, check the following:
- Check Payment Methods in the Billing and Cost Management console to confirm that your credit card number, expiration date, billing address, and phone number are correct.
Note: Be sure that the billing address and phone number that you enter match the information on file with the institution that issued your credit card.
- Confirm that your credit card is accepted by the AWS seller who is providing services to you. The name of the AWS seller is noted on your invoice.
AWS Inc. accepts credit and debit cards issued by Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, Japan Credit Bureau, or China Union Pay.
AWS Europe accepts credit and debit cards issued by Visa, MasterCard, or American Express.
AWS supports Visa, Mastercard, and AMEX credit cards for AISPL accounts.
- Check if your credit card issuer requires the use of card verification value (CVV). AWS doesn't support CVV authorization.
- If you are an AISPL customer, check if your credit card issuer requires the use of 3-D Secure authentication. AWS doesn't support this authentication solution.
If the information associated with your payment method is correct, contact your bank and check the following:
- If you're using a credit card, be sure that your credit card has enough available credit to pay your AWS invoice. If not, ask your bank to adjust your daily withdrawal or purchase limits.
- Confirm with your bank that you authorize the charges for AWS services. The charge descriptor ends in "aws.amazon.com" for AWS Inc. and AWS Europe accounts.
After you resolve the issue, retry the charges.
If you are in the process of purchasing a subscription and the payment is declined, create a case with AWS Support, and then select Account and billing support.
