Blindside Networks Quickly Scales to 60X Hosting Capacity to Support Virtual Classrooms on AWS

2021

As the creator of the virtual classroom system BigBlueButton, Blindside Networks needed to urgently and reliably scale its offerings in response to onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and resulting surge in demand for virtual learning. To accomplish this, the company decided to migrate to Amazon Web Services (AWS). In just a few months, Blindside migrated more than 2,000 servers to AWS and used AWS Auto Scaling groups to optimize the performance and cost of its Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) instances, increasing its hosting capacity by 60 times.
