FAVBET Tech Handles 400,000 Concurrent Users by Migrating to AWS

“Previously, we had 10 million transactions a day - what was once a ceiling is now the floor. Now, we have more than 100 million daily transactions.” – says Shestakov

FAVBET Tech develops software used by millions of players around the world. The company innovates in the field of gambling and betting through a complex, multi-component platform that withstands enormous loads and provides a unique experience for players. Its peak loads surged by 800 percent, putting intense demand on the client’s company’s infrastructure.

Migration to AWS

FAVBET Tech used to rely on a third-party service provider to host its platforms in an on-premises data center. Increasing its compute capacity, however, was prone to delays. “Fulfilling our requests for infrastructure could take a few months,” says FAVBET Tech Head of Infrastructure Nikita Shestakov. To scale more efficiently, FAVBET Tech made the strategic decision to migrate to Amazon Web Services (AWS). FAVBET Tech has since improved its player experience and now delivers new features much faster to the market. “On AWS, we have configurable scaling. The control we now wield allows us to scale operations at the speed of thought, pushing the limits of what's possible,” says FAVBET Tech CEO Artem Skrypnyk.

Phased Migration and Microservices Approach

FAVBET Tech migrated its workloads in phases. By taking a microservices approach, FAVBET Tech enhanced the performance of its platform and could scale to spikes in demand in minutes. FAVBET Tech has cut its latency by sixty-six percent: ninety-five percent of requests get replies within fifteen milliseconds. As a result, the number of spins per second has grown tenfold. “Previously, we had 10 million transactions a day—what was once a ceiling is now the floor. Now, we have more than 100 million daily transactions,” says Shestakov. FAVBET Tech's development team also improved its performance. Developers who previously spent most of their time managing infrastructure now focus on developing platforms and features, reducing the company’s time to market to two days.

Machine Learning and Security Enhancements

FAVBET Tech implements machine learning (ML) models using Amazon SageMaker, which helps its teams build, train, and deploy ML models for any use case with fully managed infrastructure, tools, and workflows. “We do a lot of data science and user segmentation,” says Skrypnyk. With the help of ML, FAVBET Tech managed to decrease churn rate, reduce the number of fraudulent cases, and increase player session duration through personalization for their customers. FAVBET Tech implemented tools for responsible betting, identifying problematic play signals that emerge in financial or behavioral data to automatically prevent players from potential harm.

FAVBET Tech consistently prioritizes robust security for its platforms and customer services. Leveraging AWS's secure infrastructure, FAVBET Tech successfully migrated to the cloud without concerns about compromising its ability to obtain and maintain essential certifications.

FAVBET Tech now handles more than 400,000 concurrent users on AWS. After the migration, FAVBET Tech reached a 99.99 percent uptime. FAVBET Tech will continue to grow by expanding to new regions worldwide. “We gained not only better services but advice from experts at AWS who know our domain,” says Shestakov. “We know we can rely on our infrastructure in the future.”
