FAQ

Q: How does the solution configure authorization for the web interface?

A: The solution uses Amazon Cognito to authenticate users. Authorization to the different user interface components is restricted by the user group assigned to the user.

Q: Can I input my existing factory data into the web interface?
A:  Yes. The management tools enable admins to set up the factory by defining the site, process, area, station, device, event, and root cause details.

Q: How are engineers notified of issues occurring on the factory floor?
A:  The client tool communicates with AWS IoT Core to publish messages regarding the issues occurring on the factory floor to an AWS IoT Core topic. AWS IoT Core rules engine triggers an AWS Lambda function that then processes the message. For more information, refer to the implementation guide.

Q: Can I deploy Amazon Virtual Andon in any AWS Region?

A: You must deploy this solution in a Region that supports AWS AppSync and Amazon Cognito, which are currently available in specific AWS Regions only. For the most current service availability by Region, refer to AWS service offerings by Region. Additionally, Amazon Simple Notification Service (Amazon SNS) supports SMS messaging in specific AWS Regions only. For a list of supported Regions, refer to Supported Regions and countries in the Amazon SNS Developer Guide.
