FAQ

Q: Why was the AWS Content Analysis solution built?

A: The solution is designed to generate meaningful insights through machine learning generated metadata. With a single application, customers can select the machine learning services needed to apply to the media. Customers can then use insights and metadata to automate manual processes.

Q: What does the AWS Content Analysis solution do?

A: The solution combines Amazon Rekognition, Amazon Transcribe, Amazon Translate, and Amazon Comprehend to offer a suite of comprehensive capabilities to analyze a customer’s media content. The solution is a tailored application based on the open source project Media Insights Engine (MIE), which provides a framework to make it easier for developers to build applications that transform or analyze videos on AWS.

Q: What challenges does this solution address?

A: The solution provides a single application to apply multiple machine learning services, making it easier for customers to get started using those services. The solution also automates manual processes including metadata generation and searches metadata from multiple machine learning services in a single location.

Q: Who are the intended audiences for this solution?

A: The solution helps customers searching for a way to automate current manual processes, such as creating subtitles and highlight reels, and generating searchable metadata in media. The solution also helps customers with large amounts of media content, including older archived content that may not be properly labeled or documented.

Q: Does the solution offer a web interface?

A: Yes, the solution includes a simple web interface hosted in an Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) bucket which enables you to immediately start analyzing small video files. Amazon CloudFront is used to restrict access to the solution’s website bucket contents.

Q: Are there any limitations in the solution?

A: Yes. Currently, video files uploaded through the web interface are limited to 3 GB.

Q: Can I customize the solution for my specific use case?

A: The AWS Content Analysis solution is a reference application for the Media Insights Engine (MIE) open source project. For guidance to customize this solution, use the MIE implementation guide. You can use the solution as an API for your own front-end application using the available API documentation. For more information, see the solution's implementation guide.

Q: Can I deploy the solution in any AWS Region?

A: No, this solution uses the Amazon Rekognition, Amazon Translate, Amazon Comprehend, and Amazon Transcribe services, which are currently available in specific AWS Regions only. Therefore, you must launch this solution in an AWS Region where these services are available. For the most current availability by Region, see AWS service offerings by Region.
