There is no charge to use Amazon Sumerian during the Preview.

With Amazon Sumerian, there is no charge to design and edit your augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) applications. Instead, you are charged based on the amount of storage used for the 3D assets you store in Sumerian and the volume of traffic generated by your scene. You also pay for the costs of any other AWS services, like Amazon Lex and Amazon Polly, that your Sumerian Host uses. There are no upfront costs or minimum fees. Sumerian offers a 12 month free tier to help you get started.

Free Tier
As part of the AWS Free Tier, you can get started with Amazon Sumerian for free. Upon sign-up, new customers can create a 50MB published scene that receives 100 views per month for free, for the first 12 months.

Pricing Examples (when outside the free tier)
Example 1

You are building a VR scene that lets users tour a virtual apartment. You have uploaded 1GB of 3D objects to Sumerian to use in your project. When it is published, the application has a total project size of 25MB (0.025GB). Your scene does not contain a Sumerian Host. During its first month, your published application receives 100 views.

Monthly 3D Object Storage

Monthly storage cost = GB stored * cost

Monthly storage cost = 1 * $0.06 = $0.06

Monthly Scene Traffic

Total scene transfer = Project size * total views

Monthly scene transfer cost = Total scene transfer * cost

Total scene transfer = 0.025GB * 100 = 2.5GB

Monthly scene transfer cost = 2.5GB * $0.38 = $0.95

Total Published Project Price

Total price = monthly storage cost + monthly scene transfer cost + monthly Amazon Polly cost

Total price = $0.06 + $0.95 + $0 = $1.01

Example 2

You are building a VR training application for your sales team which has a Sumerian Host that uses Amazon Polly to narrate and educate your team on your products. You have uploaded 2GB of 3D objects to Sumerian to use in your project. When it is published, the application has a total project size of 50MB (0.05GB). The script for the Sumerian Host is 1,000 characters long. During its first month, your published application receives 1,000 views.

Monthly 3D Object Storage

Monthly storage cost = GB stored * cost

Monthly storage cost = 2 * $0.06 = $0.12

Monthly Scene Traffic

Total scene transfer = Project size * total views

Monthly scene transfer cost = Total scene transfer * cost

Total scene transfer = 0.05GB * 1,000 = 50GB

Monthly scene transfer cost = 50GB * $0.38 = $19.00

Monthly Amazon Polly Cost

Total characters = characters per project * total views

Total characters = 1,000 * 1,000 = 1,000,000

Monthly Amazon Polly cost = Total characters * $4.00 per 1M requests

$4.00/1M = $4.00

Total Published Project Price

Total price = monthly storage cost + monthly scene transfer cost + monthly Amazon Polly cost

Total price = $0.12 + $19.00 + $4.00 = $23.12

Example 3

The script for the Sumerian Host is 500 characters long. During its first month, your published application receives 100 views.

Monthly 3D Object Storage

Monthly storage cost = GB stored * cost

Monthly storage cost = 1 * $0.06 = $0.06

Monthly Scene Traffic

Total scene transfer = Project size * total views

Monthly scene transfer cost = Total scene transfer * cost

Total scene transfer = 0.025GB * 100 = 2.5GB

Monthly scene transfer cost = 2.5GB * $0.38 = $0.95

Monthly Amazon Polly Cost

Total characters = characters per project * total views

Total characters = 500 * 100 = 50,000

Monthly Amazon Polly cost = Total characters * $4.00 per 1M requests

50,000 * $4.00/1M = $0.20

Total Published Project Price

Total price = monthly storage cost + monthly scene transfer cost + monthly Amazon Polly cost

Total price = $0.06 + $0.95 + $0.20 = $1.21
