  • Build on AWS

    Serverless architectures let you build and deploy applications and services with infrastructure resources that require zero administration. In the past, you had to provision and scale servers to run your application code, install and operate distributed databases, and build and run custom software to handle API requests. Now, AWS provides a stack of scalable, fully-managed services that eliminate these operational complexities. In this session, you will learn about serverless architectures, their benefits, and the basics of the AWS serverless stack (e.g., AWS Lambda, Amazon API Gateway, and AWS Step Functions).

    Big data services on AWS are built to run at scale. In this session, you learn how to develop an enterprise-scale big data application using AWS services such as Amazon EMR, Amazon Redshift and Redshift Spectrum, Amazon Athena, Amazon Elasticsearch Service, Amazon Kinesis, Amazon QuickSight, and AWS Glue. We also cover different architectural patterns and customer use cases.

    For a long time, organizations have had to choose between moving fast or maintaining a high degree of security. It’s a difficult choice, and security inevitably wins. Fortunately, one of the fundamental benefits of the cloud is that you’re able to achieve both. In this session we explore AWS’s highly secure desktop and application delivery solutions, which protect data, enable flexibility, and improve the user experience.

    In this session, you will learn how to use Amazon SageMaker to build, train, and deploy a machine learning (ML) model. Ordinarily, this is a complex task. It often includes managing large amounts of data for model training, choosing the best algorithm, overseeing compute capacity, and deploying the model in a production environment. Amazon SageMaker removes these complexities, making it possible to build ML models with everything you need to quickly connect to your training data, and select the best algorithm and framework for your application. It also helps manage all of the underlying infrastructure, so you can train models at petabyte scale.

    Moving to the cloud and making sure your systems are secure can seem like a daunting task. The Risk Management Framework (RMF) is a well-defined standard for assessing your cloud workloads, and provides guidance on how public and private organization approach risk management.

    This session will provide insight into how the RMF was successfully applied during the security assessment of an AWS air-gapped region, as well as how it is being used to perform security assessment for cloud-based workloads. In addition, we’ll highlight the use of common controls to implement the AWS Shared-Responsibility Model.

    In this session, we will feature the Genome Institute of Singapore (GIS) case study to explore the use of pure serverless architectures for analysing big genomics data sets.

    Computational genomics deals with the interpretation of genomics data, which is growing exponentially. Input data for single samples can easily reach 100s of gigabytes, and studies now require the analysis of thousands of such samples. By leveraging the inherent data-parallel features of computational genomics, AWS Lambda functions can be used to analyze large amount of genomics data at scale.

Learn how AWS Landing Zone provides an account strategy, a baseline of networking, security, and configuration management. The landing zone is delivered as infrastructure as code, giving you a repeatable delivery process with AWS CloudFormation. It also provides prescriptive guidance and best-practice templates that a customer can deploy into his or her initial AWS environment, with the confidence that it will grow to meet future business needs, including security and regulatory compliance requirements.

    AWS Cloud users benefit from governance that allows them grow and scale as they increase their number of AWS accounts. AWS proposes a new approach to meet these challenges. Governance@Scale addresses AWS account management, cost control, and security and compliance through automation, organized by a centralized management toolset. Governance@Scale helps organizations establish centrally managed budgets for cloud resources, oversight of cloud implementations, and a dashboard of the organization’s cloud health.
