Q: Who should attend AWS Summits?
Whether you are new to the cloud or an experienced user of the AWS platform there will be something for you at Summit. These events, held around the world, are designed to educate new customers about the AWS platform and offer existing customers deep technical content to be more successful with AWS. The 2-day agenda and ancillary activities offered at AWS Summit will suit and cater to technical and management-level roles involved in the planning, strategy, delivery and implementation of their organisation’s cloud computing from businesses of all sizes.

Q: How can I justify my attendance to AWS Summit to my manager?
There are many great reasons for attending AWS Summit. We have made it easy for you to convince your boss with our Justify Your Trip template.

Dear [your manager’s name],

I’d like your permission to attend one of the largest and most influential cloud computing conferences taking place in Sydney, AWS Summit. Taking place on 5th and 6th April, AWS Summit is free to attend and will allow me access to the latest cloud services and technologies, which will be beneficial for both my personal growth and our company’s cloud knowledge in the following areas:

  • Learn more about core AWS services like Amazon EC2, S3, RDS, and Redshift
  • Be the first to hear about new AWS products and features
  • Get educated on technical best practices with over 80 breakout sessions on topics such as cloud architecture, continuous deployment, monitoring and management, performance, security, migration and more
  • Find answers to our development questions and learn technical tips and tricks from AWS architects, engineers, product leads, and expert users
  • Discover proven cost optimization methodologies and new ways to reduce our company’s AWS bill

A day before the conference on 4th of April (at ICC Sydney), AWS training bootcamps are being held, which will allow me to take my cloud skills to the next level. Five training sessions are being held for the full-day (pricing as per below), of which I believe [insert bootcamp session] will greatly help my knowledge and help move forward with current key projects.

Here’s an estimated breakdown of costs:

AWS Bootcamp training: $850 (ex GST) or $750 if booked prior to March 24, 2017
(Outside of Sydney)
Domestic airfare estimate: [Example: $400]
Hotel (2 nights in Sydney’s Sofitel Wentworth) $299 p/night using code AMAZON030417 (subject to availability)
Total: $2,000 approx.

AWS Bootcamp Training options:

  1. AWS Technical Essentials
  2. Secrets to Successful Cloud Transformations
  3. Building a Serverless Data Lake
  4. Processing IoT Sensor Data Using Serverless Architectures
  5. Running Container-enabled Microservices on AWS

After the conference, I’ll circulate a report that will include a summary of what I learned plus a set of recommendations to increase our team’s productivity and maximise our cloud investment.

Thank you for considering my request to attend this event.

Looking forward to your reply,
[your name]
