Q: What is different in 2018?
The most exciting addition to this year's event is the inaugural Amazon Innovation Day, taking place on Tuesday 10 April, prior to the usual two day AWS Summit when general sessions and workshops are held. Amazon Innovation Day details are here. The event is moving to the International Convention Centre in Darling Harbour, Sydney.

Q: Who should attend AWS Summit 2018?
AWS Summit Sydney is taking place on Wednesday 11 and Thursday 12 April. Offering over 100 breakout sessions, the two days are designed to educate new customers about the AWS platform and offer existing customers best practices and deep technical content to be more successful with their cloud adoption journey. The sessions and ancillary activities offered will suit and cater to IT professionals, developers, and cloud practitioners in technical and management-level roles from businesses of all sizes. The sessions will suit business and technical roles, ranging from beginners to mature users of AWS. Refer to the session descriptions in the agenda section of AWS Summit Sydney for more information.

Q: Where is the event agenda?
You can review the two day AWS Summit agenda here, or under the respective section headings of 'Amazon Innovation Day' and 'AWS Summit' under the menu navigation.

Q: How can I justify my attendance to AWS Summit to my manager?
There are many compelling reasons for attending Amazon Innovation Day and AWS Summit this year. We have made it easy for you to convince your manager with our Justify Your Trip template.

Q: What is the price of registration?
Event registration is free of charge.

Q: What is included in the event registration?
Both Amazon Innovation Day and AWS Summit will feature keynote presentations with global speakers and customer stories. AWS Summit on Wednesday and Thursday will feature over 100 sessions led by AWS experts. New this year is the "Metropolis of the Future" on the expo floor where you can get hands-on with technology and have your technical questions answered the AWS team and our sponsors. Meals offered include morning tea, lunch, and afternoon refreshments.

Q: Can I get a confirmation of my AWS Summit registration?
Upon completing the online registration, you will receive an email with details of the event. Please check your junk mail folder if you do not receive this within 24 hours of registering online. You will be provided with a "Know Before You Go" email in the lead up to Amazon Innovation Day and/or AWS Summit with a barcode. You will be required to present the barcode on the day to access your event name badge. Walk-ins will not be permitted as we expect to reach full capacity.

Q: Can I sign up for sessions I want to attend?
You will be able to build your own agenda via the event app to assist you in planning your event experience. This does not guarantee you a seat for the session as rooms will be filled on a first come, first seated basis.

Q: Will I need to register myself for each breakout session?
We would encourage you to build your own agenda on the app which will launch in advance of the event. This will assist organisers in assigning rooms of adequate size for the demand. As per above this does not guarantee you a seat in the session as this is dealt with on a first come first seated basis.

Q: Are you streaming the keynotes or any sessions?
We will not live stream the keynote or sessions however some content may be made available On-Demand post the event.

Q: Will the slides be shared after the event?
Recordings of the keynotes and some of the sessions will be available ‘on-demand’.

Q: Do you offer special dietary meals?
We aim to cater for a variety of dietary requirements, however we cannot guarantee this will cover specific or individual requests. If you have specific dietary needs or if you are looking for a wider variety of options we recommend that you bring your own meals with you.

Q: What accessibility accommodations are available?
The event venue, the International Convention Centre Sydney, has been designed to make everyone’s visit a fully accessible and inclusive event experience. If you require additional assistance with any specific mobility, vision, hearing or other kinds of assistance please email aws-anz-marketing@amazon.com at least two weeks prior to the event.

VENUE & ACCOMMODATION

Q: How do I get to the venue?

AWS Summit 2018 has moved venues and this year will take place at the International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC), located in Sydney's Darling Harbour. (View map)

• ICC Exhibition Centre, Level 2 - Amazon Innovation Day and AWS Summit registration
• Exhibition Halls 2, 3, 4 - Breakout sessions, Metropolis of the Future Expo, and catering
• ICC Theatre - Keynotes and breakout sessions

It is a five-minute walk between the Halls and the ICC Theatre. Event crew will be on hand to direct delegates to where they need to be. Please visit www.iccsydney.com for further info about the venue.

No coach transfers will be offered this year. Directions to ICC are as follows:

Train
A short walk from Central or Town Hall will take you directly to Darling Quarter, Tumbalong Park and Sydney Visitor Centre. Town Hall and Central Stations are a 10-minute walk from ICC Sydney.

Bus
ICC Sydney has its own bus stop. Bus routes 389 and 501 stop at Harris Street near Allen Street – a 10-minute walk from ICC Sydney.

Taxi
The best taxi drop off and pick up locations include the new Iron Wharf Place next to Harbourside Shopping Centre and Zollner Circuit on the Southern end of ICC Sydney Theatre, both accessed via Darling Drive.

Walking
Routes to ICC Sydney include from Central Station. See the ICC link for directions.

Cycling
Bike racks are available in Exhibition Car Park 1 including male and female shower and change room facilities. Personal locks are required.  

Q: Are there any accommodation discounts available as part of Summit?
A discount is available on local accommodation for delegates attending Amazon Innovation Day and AWS Summit 2018. Please organise accommodation directly with the hotel, following instructions below to receive a 10% discount. All accommodation costs are at delegates own expense and bookings are subject to availability.

Q: Where can I find a Mother’s room?
Baby change facilities and dedicated parents’ rooms are located in the ICC Sydney at:

  • Convention Centre – on ground level and level two.
  • Exhibition Centre – on level two
  • ICC Theatre – on level two

Q: Where can I find a Prayer room?
Non-denominational male and female prayer rooms are located on level three of the ICC Exhibition Centre.
