What is AWS Academy?
AWS Academy provides higher education institutions with a free, ready-to-teach cloud computing curriculum that prepares students to pursue industry-recognized certifications and in-demand cloud jobs. Our curriculum helps educators stay at the forefront of AWS Cloud innovation so that they can equip students with the skills they need to get hired in one of the fastest-growing industries.
Who can join AWS Academy?
AWS Academy membership is open to higher education institutions that offer accredited degree, diploma, certificate, or continuing education programs. The applicant must be authorized to act as the central point of contact (CPOC) for the institution they represent, or be able to provide the name and contact information of someone who can act in this capacity.
Who teaches AWS Academy curriculum?
AWS Academy-accredited educators teach AWS Academy courses at member institutions. Educators receive complimentary professional development and mentorship as they pursue AWS Certification and AWS Academy accreditation.
What do AWS Academy students learn?
AWS Academy students take courses that give them the opportunity to develop a range of skills and expertise, from foundational cloud concepts to architecting, developing, operations, and data analysis on AWS. Currently, AWS Academy offers the following courses and learning resources:
- AWS Academy Cloud Foundations
- AWS Academy Cloud Developing
- AWS Academy Cloud Operations
- AWS Academy Cloud Architecting
- AWS Academy Machine Learning Foundations

How much does the program cost?
The program is free to join. Educators receive a 50% discount voucher on their AWS Certification exams. The educator or the institution cover the remaining amount. Students receive a 50% discount voucher on optional AWS Certification exams.
What job opportunities are AWS Academy graduates prepared to pursue?
AWS Academy graduates have been employed by many customers and partners, including Accenture, Blackberry, BlazeClan, CapGemini, Citrix, D2SI, Deloitte, eCloudValley, Goldman Sachs, the Government of Ontario, Verizon Wireless, and Wipro. They work in key roles as such solutions architect, DevOps engineer, systems engineer, business analyst, and cloud consultant
Does AWS Academy prepare students for AWS Certification?
Most AWS Academy courses are aligned with AWS Certifications. The courses and learning resources help prepare students to take AWS Certification exams, but students are encouraged to do supplementary studying. AWS Academy students receive a 50% discount voucher on their AWS Certification exams.
What is the difference between AWS Academy and AWS Educate?
Institutions, educators, and students can benefit from both AWS Academy and AWS Educate, and educators are invited to use both programs in the classroom. AWS Academy provides higher education institutions with a free, ready-to-teach cloud computing curriculum and provides educators with complimentary professional development so they can deliver in-depth, hands-on learning experiences directly to students. AWS Educate gives both students and educators access to a range of AWS Cloud content and programs. AWS Educate also connects companies hiring for cloud skills to qualified student job seekers with the AWS Educate Job Board.
