AWS Elemental MediaLive now supports converting Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB) bitmap and SCTE-27 image-based subtitles to WebVTT captions.

Typically, web and mobile video players don't handle image-based subtitles, so you could not easily provide your viewers with captions from image-based sources. Now with MediaLive leveraging optical character recognition (OCR) functionality, you can convert these image-based subtitles to WebVTT format. OCR subtitle conversion in MediaLive is available at no additional charge. AWS Elemental Live also supports the same functionality in the 2.22.0 GA software release.

For more information on how to enable OCR conversion and what languages are supported, visit the AWS Elemental MediaLive documentation and AWS Elemental Live documentation.
