Illumina, Inc., a global leader in next-generation gene sequencing that has generated more than 90 percent of all DNA data sequenced, has selected Amazon Web Services (AWS) to support its rapid growth and storage needs for its BaseSpace Informatics Suite.

Illumina evaluated several public cloud providers before selecting AWS based on the platform’s reliability, scalability, and superior global reach. Since then, running BaseSpace on AWS has enabled Illumina’s customers to explore and process genomic data faster and in more detail, leading to advancements in both research and clinical settings.

“We chose AWS to deliver innovative and scalable solutions to our customers around the world, many of whom are using genomic analysis to save lives and improve health outcomes,” said Sanjay Chikarmane, SVP and general manager of the Enterprise Informatics Business Unit at Illumina.
