Glenn Gore, Chief Architect, Amazon Web Services

As the Chief Architect for Amazon Web Services, Glenn is responsible for creating architectural best practices and working with customers on how they use the cloud and innovation to transform their own businesses or disrupt new markets.

Glenn has held previous roles in AWS, most recently as head of architecture for Asia Pacific and EMEA for Amazon Web Services where he managed regional teams working in the fastest growing region. Glenn has experience in working in mature and emerging markets, helping customers use the latest advancements to give them a competitive edge.

Glenn is a hands-on technologist with more than 20 years of experience in the technology industry. Prior to joining AWS, Glenn was the CTO of WebCentral where he worked on highly scalable web platforms and big-data systems for customers. He also held roles at OzEmail and UUNET the world’s largest network provider.

Glenn has worked in engineering, R&D and technology leadership roles working with customers such as Facebook, Twitter, NASA and working on projects such as the Hadron super collider, interplanetary networking and large scale distributed systems. Glenn is passionate about his customers and about technology and how it is changing how we live and work.

Mark Ryland, Director, Office of the CISO, AWS

Mark Ryland is the Director of the Office of the Chief Information Security Officer (OCISO) at Amazon Web Service (AWS). Ryland reports to Steve Schmidt, the CISO for AWS, and leads a global team of Security Architects who help customers to understand more deeply how AWS builds and operates its highly secure cloud platform, and how they can best leverage that modern platform to enhance their own IT security. In addition, the OCISO works as a key channel for incoming customer requirements, making sure customer needs in the area of security and compliance are understood and prioritized by AWS engineering and service teams. The OCISO also supports a number mechanisms for deeper customer engagement in the security space, including the biannual meetings of CISO Advisory Council, and other regional meetings and groups.

Ryland has more than 27 years of experience in the technology industry across a wide range of leadership roles in cybersecurity, software engineering, distributed systems, technical standardization, and public policy. Most recently he was the Director of Solutions Architecture and Professional Services for the AWS Worldwide Public Sector team, founding the team and growing it to a large global organization from 2011 through 2017. Prior to AWS, Ryland worked for Microsoft for 13 years in two different stints (1991-2000 and 2008-2011) in multiple roles including Director and founder, Standards Strategy Group, was co-founder and CTO of two start-ups in the 2000s, and served as vice-president of a public policy think tank.

Klaus Bürg, Managing Director, AWS Germany

Klaus Bürg has significant and proven expertise in managing international Enterprise type companies, developing go-to-market strategies and also has a strong affinity to cutting edge technologies. Klaus worked in mature markets as well as in emerging markets and has deep expertise in industries like Financial Services, Manufacturing, Healthcare & Pharma and also in Professional Services environments.

Klaus has more than 20 years of experience in the IT industry, including more than 15 years in Selling and Implementing Business Applications. Before joining AWS, Klaus was working 2 years at audius AG as Executive Vice President where he was responsible for the Business Applications. Before that he worked 11 years at Microsoft in various management functions – i.e. leading the CRM Business for EMEA, COO for the Western Europe Enterprise Services Business (12 countries) and lastly being the COO at Microsoft Central Eastern Europe Headquarters (33 Countries), running the Enterprise Business across all products.

Klaus graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science from the University of Esslingen (near Stuttgart, Germany). He also holds a master of science in computer science from the same University.
