Overview

CygNet is launched on AWS services EC2, RDS for SQL Server and S3. Below course includes directions for students on how to launch these services.

And, other course descriptions - Online self-paced courses allow you to go through the material when it is convenient for you and at your own pace. The tuition for all online self-paced courses is $1,050 per course.

1. CygNet Configuration The CygNet Configuration course teaches students how to add new devices (RTUs, PLCs) to the system, set up control commands, define scanning (polling) schedules, add tags, setup alarm and history reporting and define notifications (callouts).

Upon completion of this course, students should be able to add remote devices and communication devices to the system; map uniform data codes to data elements; view the bytes sent back and forth from a device or on a communications channel; set up commands to retrieve data from a device and to remotely control a device; define polling schedules; create data tags and specialty tags (alarm roll-ups, communication statistics, facility information); define alarm setpoints, history reporting, and scaling; setup email, voice, and paging notifications; and create HMI screens including templated screens.

Prerequisites: Use of standard Microsoft applications such as Word and Excel. RTU/PLC experience preferred.

2. CygNet Advanced Configuration The CygNet Advanced Configuration course introduces students to scripting in tags and HMI screens, device XML templates, ODBC, OPC, and importing/exporting data.

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to create scripted tags, and add scripted functionality to HMI screens. Students will also understand how XML is used with the CygNet device drivers as well as the use of the CygNet ODBC driver and OPC.

Prerequisites: CygNet Configuration course or equivalent experience, familiarity with VB Script or other scripting/programming language preferred.

3. CygNet Administrator The CygNet Administrator course provide students with a thorough understanding of the CygNet services and their inter-relationships, and teaches them about service configuration, client/service communication, system security, version management, backup and restore procedures, installing upgrades, and system troubleshooting.

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to configure CygNet services, setup applications for version management, define system security for users, and apply troubleshooting techniques.

Prerequisites: CygNet Configuration course or equivalent experience.

4. CygNet Measurement Administrator The CygNet Measurement Administrator course teaches students how to configure meters, automate polling, implement security and auditing, and configure reports. Students will use various administrative functions to set up rules for validating and estimating measurement data. This course teaches students how to setup and configure the Flow Measurement Service, configure remote devices for data retrieval, add and delete meters, configure poll schedules, add and use groups. This course will also teach students how to implement validation rules, estimations rules and configure normalization views.

Upon completion of this course, students will have familiarity with all CygNet Measurement components, understand the relationship between the SQL server and the Flow Measurement Service, and understand the workflow of an analyst to manage the process of collecting to closing of measurement data.

Prerequisites: CygNet Administrator course or equivalent experience.
