I like Datadog’s professional layout and clean design, and it’s easy to use for everyday monitoring. The visual design makes dense system graphs, log timelines, and metric widgets feel intuitive rather than chaotic.

I find some parts of the UI complex, and I run into feature limitations when I try to customize things more deeply.

I use Datadog to make thorough, accurate postmortems and historical issue investigations less difficult.

I like having Datadog as a central place to bring together heterogeneous data and make it instantly queryable under a single schema. The wide range of integrations lets me connect database clusters, cloud provider APIs, and container orchestrators without writing complex scrapers.

When an alert triggers or there's a performance anomaly, I can pick a metric data point instantly to the corresponding log line with distributed ATM traces without losing context.

I find it annoying that Datadog automatically converts all metric and span tags into lowercase. This can be a hassle when we have existing tags or custom metadata from other sources using camel case or uppercase.

What I dislike most about Datadog is that the default dashboards for services and specific API endpoints could be much better structured. Additionally, the user interface feels a bit confusing and cluttered.

Datadog solves the lack of visibility into complex applications and distributed service endpoints. It provides deep log visibility, metric tracking, and trace management, making diagnosing issues incredibly fast.
