What do you like best about the product?
The best thing about Debian Linux distribution lies in its great stability, reliability, and its high regard for the principles of open source software. Debian features a great package management tool that enables the user to access a wide array of applications through the repository.
What do you dislike about the product?
nothing to add this time from my side everything seems fine
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is for this reason that Debian is a solution to the problem of delivering a secure, stable, and highly adaptable operating system for servers, computers, and development platforms. Users will find Debian useful due to its reliability, high level of security, availability of software, and easy maintenance.

A Dependable Linux Distribution for Development and Homelab Environments

What do you like best about the product?
Debian's stability, performance, and overall user experience are the features I value most. I use it as the operating system for my homelab environment, where it runs multiple Docker containers, media services, cloud storage, monitoring tools, and automation scripts. Even under continuous workloads, the platform remains responsive and resource-efficient, delivering excellent performance on both modern and older hardware. From a UI/UX perspective, Debian provides a clean and predictable administration experience, while its package management system simplifies software installation and maintenance. The extensive documentation and active community support also make it easier to manage and troubleshoot systems efficiently.
What do you dislike about the product?
Debian's primary drawback is that its focus on stability can result in older software packages compared to more cutting-edge Linux distributions. While this improves reliability and long-term performance, it sometimes requires using backports, containers, or external repositories to access newer features. The onboarding experience can also be challenging for users who are new to Linux, as some administrative tasks require command-line knowledge and familiarity with Linux system management.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Debian serves as the foundation for my self-hosted infrastructure and development environment. Before using Debian, managing multiple services across different platforms was more complicated and required additional maintenance. Debian's broad compatibility and integrations with technologies such as Docker, reverse proxies, monitoring platforms, cloud storage solutions, and automation tools have allowed me to consolidate these workloads onto a single platform. From a pricing and ROI perspective, Debian is completely free and runs efficiently on existing hardware, eliminating operating system licensing costs while extending the useful life of servers. As a result, I have reduced infrastructure expenses, improved system reliability, and significantly decreased the amount of time spent on maintenance and troubleshooting.

Stable and Reliable, But Package Updates Lag
Reviewed on May 14, 2026

What do you like best about the product?
I really like Debian's stability and reliability as a system. The package management through APT is simple and efficient, which makes it very good for programming and handling several related tasks and customizations. I also find the support and documentation very helpful for troubleshooting issues. Additionally, the initial setup of Debian was fairly straightforward, and installation and partitioning were manageable, especially with the help of the documentation.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some packages are older, so getting the latest software versions sometimes requires extra steps.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I find Debian stable and reliable for development. The APT package management is simple and efficient, great for programming and related tasks. However, some packages are older, requiring extra steps for latest versions.

Reliable Linux Distro with Strong Community Support

What do you like best about the product?
I really appreciate Debian's package manager and the strong community support behind it. It's great because it treats a lot of packages as first-class citizens, which ensures we always have the latest versions of the software we need for development and hosting. Also, Debian's regular updates contribute to its security, which is something we rely on for our virtual machines. The initial setup was pretty standardized, similar to other Linux distributions, which made it useful for us right from day one.
What do you dislike about the product?
I find that when Debian reaches end of life, we don't receive any more security updates for legacy virtual machines, so we're forced to update. While it's not specific to Debian, it still affects us. Also, while other distributions like Alpine are lighter and smaller in size, they often miss many packages which makes Debian the choice for us.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Debian serves as a reliable Linux distro for our virtual machines, supported by a strong community and regular updates for security. Its package manager ensures we have the latest software needed for development and hosting.

It’s lightweight, takes up very little space, and offers very good support, especially when working with a Raspberry Pi.
What do you dislike about the product?
Honestly, I don’t really have anything to dislike.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

What do you like best about the product?
I really like using Debian for a lot of utilities like remote monitoring and using it as a local PHP server, API server, and web server. It's easier to set up and has an automated server process that doesn't require much interaction from an end user. The interface and ease of use are great. I appreciate being able to install basically any Linux application and easily automate certain functions related to network infrastructure and monitoring. The initial setup process was very easy.
What do you dislike about the product?
From a Windows user's perspective, it would be better to have more options in the installation process that offer alternatives to Microsoft applications, allowing the end user to choose at installation.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Debian is easy to set up and automates server processes with minimal user interaction. It allows installation of Linux applications and simplifies network monitoring.
