Micro Focus Codar - Review

  • July 13, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The application has over 8,000 workflows to choose from, which allows for customization of the process.
What do you dislike about the product?
The application helps you complete end-to-end IT actions and while this is helpful, a lack of knowledge of the complete process could make it difficult to comprehend on the input side.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Implementation problems form most of the issues we are facing in regards to the application. On the flip side, the variety of offerings provides a large benefit in terms of selection and variance.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would highly consider the backend work involved when working with Micro Focus Codar and also the incoming proficiency with programming knowledge present, as that might pose for a large deal of adjustment and pre-learning prior to implementation.

A continuous deployment solution

  • May 16, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
That we could be on the fast track. Codar provided us with faster application releases. We could trigger deployments automatically with Jenkins. Integrates nicely with existing services like AWS, docker etc... We could link it up with open-source toolchains or HP ALM toolchain. Re-usability of each infrastructure stage cuts down on the setup time. Monitoring at production prepares for autonomous behavior.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's highly complex to setup correctly. It really requires a lot of expertise in order to make sure it's implemented and configured properly. Otherwise, it doesn't do what it's supposed to do. With our legacy applications, I suppose any system will struggle.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's helped us with moving away from doing everything manually and from a siloed way of thinking. Previously, it would take months to make a small change in our application. Codar helps us speed up the development process.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Well ,right off the bat, Codar is not for someone who is playing around. Takes serious time to setup correctly and then deployment cycle starts. If you are ready to take a challenge, go for it.
