Your participation in the AWS in Education Grant Program is subject to the following terms and conditions. Please read them carefully. These terms and conditions are in addition to the Amazon Web Services Customer Agreement (“Customer Agreement”) and constitute Additional Policies under that agreement. Capitalized terms not defined below are defined in the Customer Agreement.
1.1. Your grant credits (“Credits”) may be used only for Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3), Amazon CloudFront, Amazon Simple Queue Service (Amazon SQS), Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2), Amazon SimpleDB Service (Amazon SimpleDB), Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS), and Amazon ElasticMapReduce (collectively, “Eligible Services”). Further, your Credits may be used only to support student coursework, academic research, or student projects associated with coursework or academic research. You may not use your Credits for Reserved Instances. Cluster GPU Instances for Amazon EC2 are only available for grant recipients on a limited basis by written consent of the program administrator.
1.2. Once your Credits are consumed, all additional use of the Services will be billed to your AWS account. Credits granted for research expire 1 year from the date we send you a Credit claim code. Credits granted for teaching expire 1 year from the date we send you a Credit claim code. You are not eligible for any refunds. You are solely responsible for monitoring usage charges on your AWS account.
1.3. Your Credits are personal to you. You may not sell, license, rent, or otherwise transfer them. Your Credits may not be applied to any other account. They are not redeemable for cash.
1.4. Your credits may not be used in conjunction with any other promotional or incentive offer from Amazon Web Services. Your credits can be applied only to the Eligible Services.
1.5. Your Credits are void in the event of fraud, misuse, or failure to satisfy any terms of the AWS in Education Program or the Customer Agreement. In such case, we also reserve the right to seek reimbursement for credits already used and any other legal relief available.
1.6. Your Credits will be used against Eligible Services and any sales, use, gross receipts, or similar transaction based taxes (“Transaction Taxes”) that may be applicable on the Eligible Services. To the extent that any Eligible Services are subject to Transaction Taxes, the value of the Eligible Services and the Transaction Taxes will be deducted from your Credits. All other taxes, costs, and expenses are your responsibility.
2.1. You hereby give AWS permission to use your name or likeness in furtherance of the AWS in Education Program.
2.2. You may not issue any press release regarding the AWS in Education Program without our prior written consent. In addition, you agree not to misrepresent or embellish the relationship between us and you. For example, you agree not to imply that we support, sponsor, endorse, or contribute money to your teaching and research unless you have our prior written permission.
2.3. You will abide by the policies and guidelines for the AWS in Education Program.
2.4. We may terminate or modify the AWS in Education Program at any time.
