Yao shows you how to
stop a running query
on an RDS instance running MySQL

I started a query, but I want to stop ("kill") the query before it finishes. How do I stop the query?

To stop ("kill") a running query on an Amazon RDS DB instance running MySQL, use the rds_kill or rds_kill_query command.

Both queries require that you use a thread ID when calling the command. For instructions on how to check running queries and their thread IDs, see How do I check running queries for my Amazon RDS MySQL instance?

kill, stop, query, session
