I have terminated an Amazon EC2 Container Service container instance, but it still appears as a resource for my ECS cluster. Why is that, and how can I fix it?

When you terminate an ECS container instance when it is in the "running" state, it is automatically removed (deregistered) from the cluster. However, if you terminate the instance when it is in the "stopped" state, it is not automatically removed, and you must explicitly deregister it.

Deregister the ECS container instance so that it is no longer displayed on the ECS Instances tab of the Amazon ECS console.

Use one of the following methods to deregister an ECS container instance:

Amazon EC2 Container Service, container instance, status true, deregister, terminate
