How do I view my Reserved Instance utilization and coverage?
Last updated: 2020-07-23
I want to view my Reserved Instance (RI) utilization and coverage.
You can use AWS Cost Explorer to generate the RI Utilization and RI coverage reports. With these reports, you can dive deeper into your Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2), Amazon Redshift, Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS), Amazon OpenSearch Service (successor to Amazon Elasticsearch Service), and Amazon ElastiCache RIs.
RI utilization and coverage
You can use your RI Utilization reports and RI coverage reports to understand where your highest RI costs are and how you can potentially lower these costs.
To view your RI utilization and RI coverage reports, do the following:
- Open the AWS Cost Management console.
- Choose Cost Explorer from the navigation pane.
- Choose Reports.
- To view the RI utilization report, choose RI Utilization.
To view the RI coverage report, choose RI Coverage.
- Open the Services filter.
- Select the service for which you require the utilization data.
- Choose Apply Filters.
Note: You can filter the chart to analyze reservations based on Regions, instance types, and more.
