I'm trying to transfer a domain that is registered with another registrar to Amazon Route 53, but I didn't receive a transfer authorization email. Why didn't I receive the email, and how do I get a transfer authorization email?

You can have a transfer authorization email sent to you again. However, be sure to check the following settings before proceeding:

  • Update your domain's contact information through your current registrar. You can't receive the transfer authorization email if the email address on file with your current registrar is outdated or incorrect.
    Note: When you initiate a domain transfer without an email address change, Route 53 sends email only to the address listed in WHOIS at the time of the transfer request. If you change the email address on file after initiating the transfer, Route 53 emails both the old and new email addresses. Because you're performing multiple operations (the domain transfer and change of ownership), you must take action on both these authorization emails to complete the transfer.
  • Disable the "privacy protection" feature for your domain through your current registrar.

To have a domain transfer authorization email sent again:

  1. Sign in to the Amazon Route 53 console.
  2. In the navigation pane, under Domains, choose Pending requests.
  3. Select the domain you want to transfer, and then choose Resend email.
