I want to resolve a custom domain name from resources in my Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (Amazon VPC) without modifying the DHCP options set. How can I do this?
Resolution
Configure a private hosted zone to specify how Amazon Route 53 responds to DNS queries for a domain and its subdomains within your VPCs:
- Create a private hosted zone for your domain name, and then attach it to the required VPC.
- Create relevant records in the private hosted zone to specify how Route 53 responds to DNS queries from resources in the attached VPC.
- (Optional) Associate the private hosted zone to VPCs in other AWS accounts.
