What is AWS GovTechStart?

AWS GovTechStart is a program designed to provide your governent technology (GovTech) startup with the resources you need to get started quickly and easily on Amazon Web Services (AWS). Learn more about AWS GovTechStart.

Do I need to be an AWS customer to join AWS GovTechStart?

Yes. You must have an active AWS account with a valid payment method on file in order to join AWS GovTechStart. Learn more about AWS accounts

How do I become an AWS GovTechStart Member?

To become a part of the AWS GovTechStart Members Tier, you will need to complete the AWS GovTechStart Member application and apply to the program. If the program accepts you, you will be asked to review and accept the AWS GovTechStart terms and conditions in order to participate. How long can I stay in the AWS GovTechStart program?

Once accepted into the AWS GovTechStart Members Tier, you can remain a Member for as long as you wish.

How long does it take to be accepted into AWS GovTechStart?

We generally process Innovator applications within five business days of receipt. We generally process Member applications within 10-12 business days of receipt. If you are accepted into the AWS GovTechStart program, you will receive a welcome email.

Are all applicants accepted into the program?

Due to a high volume of applications, submitting an application does not guarantee your acceptance into the program.

Once accepted into AWS GovTechStart Members Tier, where can I find my AWS Promotional Credit?

If you are awarded AWS Promotional Credit through AWS GovTechStart, you may access the credit in the AWS Management Console.

How much AWS Promotional Credit can I expect to receive from the AWS GovTechStart program?

AWS Promotional Credit awarded through the AWS GovTechStart Innovators or Members Tiers vary depends largely on information submitted in the application and takes into consideration factors such as the company’s needs, previous allocations of AWS Promotional Credit, and outlined usage.

Does AWS Promotional Credit expire?

Yes. AWS GovTechStart Promotional Credit will expire on the date indicated when you receive the applicable AWS Promotional Credit code (or such other date designated by your AWS contracting entity). Failure to use AWS Promotional Credit before the expiration date will result in the forfeiture of AWS Promotional Credit. We reserve the right to cancel AWS Promotional Credit at any time. We will not grant refunds for any expired or cancelled AWS Promotional Credit.

Can my AWS Promotional Credit be extended?

No. AWS Promotional Credit expires on the date indicated when you receive the applicable AWS Promotional Credit code (or such other date designated by your AWS contracting entity) and will not be extended.

If I need more AWS Promotional Credit, can I get them from AWS GovTechStart?

No. AWS Promotional Credit is a short-term, finite tool for empowering your long-term success. Once the AWS Promotional Credit is fully utilized, or has expired, you will have the opportunity to benefit from the other resources AWS makes available for architecting your infrastructure and optimizing your costs.

Will you notify us if our company does not qualify for AWS GovTechStart?

We generally process Innovator applications within five business days of receipt. We process Member applications within approximately 10-12 business days of receipt. We make reasonable attempts to follow up with each applicant. However, in cases where the AWS account ID is invalid, or the email address provided is a personal address instead of a corporate email address, we reserve the right to remove your application from the queue and you may not receive a follow-up.

As a Member of AWS GovTechStart Members Tier or AWS GovTechStart Innovators Tier, can I use the AWS logo on my website?

You can display the Powered By Amazon Web Services logo, as seen here, to let your customers know your application is built on the same reliable, scalable infrastructure used to power Amazon.com’s global web properties. Visit the AWS co-marketing tools page for more details. Use of this logo and any AWS marks are subject to AWS trademark guidelines.

As a Member of AWS GovTechStart, can I use the AWS GovTechStart Member icon on my website?

Yes. You can display the AWS GovTechStart Member icon on your website to let your customers know that you are an AWS GovTechStart Member. Use of the icon is subject to AWS Trademark Guidelines.

Can I mention AWS as the technology sponsor for my organization?

No. AWS GovTechStart is not a sponsorship program.

Is there a cost to apply for AWS GovTechStart or to become an AWS GovTechStart Member or Innovator?

No, AWS GovTechStart is a complimentary offering.

Does AWS take any equity stake in AWS GovTechStart Members or Innovators?

AWS does not take any equity from AWS GovTechStart Members or Innovators.

Is there a deadline to apply for the program?

No, AWS GovTechStart is an ongoing program. You can apply at any time.

Are there any requirements of AWS GovTechStart Members in the program?

No, once you are in the program, there are no requirements for remaining in the program. However, if you want to participate in marketing activities, such as being featured in blog posts, you must sign and return the AWS Marketing Authorization Form

What is the process for exiting the program?

Once accepted into AWS GovTechStart, you can remain an AWS GovTechStart Member for as long as you wish. If you wish to leave the program, you may do so at any time by emailing the team. Once we receive your email request, we will remove you from the program database and webpage. Please note that this removal process may take up to five business days.

What is the difference between being a “Member” and an “Innovator” of AWS GovTechStart?

The AWS GovTechStart Innovators Tier is intended for the earliest stage GovTech startups. Participants in the AWS GovTechStart Innovators Tier, or "AWS GovTechStart Innovators” as they are called, receive basic support to launch their companies. Once AWS GovTechStart Innovators have advanced their business and are working with customers, they can apply to become an AWS GovTechStart Member.

Can I be both an AWS GovTechStart Innovator and an AWS GovTechStart Member?

No, not at the same time. Once AWS GovTechStart Innovators have advanced their business and are working with customers, they can apply to become an AWS GovTechStart Member.
