Why do I receive the error "You can only join an organization whose Seller of Record is same as your account" when I'm trying to join an organization?

When I try to join an organization, I receive the error "You can only join an organization whose Seller of Record is same as your account." What does this error mean?

Resolution

The seller of record refers to whether your account is with AWS, Amazon Internet Services Private Limited (AISPL), or another seller of record. This error indicates that your seller of record is different from the seller of record of the master account in the organization. Due to legal and billing constraints, you can't join an organization whose seller of record is different from that of your account.

If you're not sure which seller of record your account is with, check the Billing and Cost Management console.

If you're not sure which seller of record the master account of the organization is with, contact the owner of the master account. To see the contact details of the master account,

  1. Sign in to the AWS Management Console.
  2. On the navigation bar, choose your account name, and then choose My Organization.
