Use AWS OLA to help you build your migration and licensing strategy on AWS. AWS OLA will provide you with a report that will model your deployment options, using existing licensing entitlements. These results can help you explore available cost savings across our flexible licensing options. AWS OLA can also be used in combination with MAP for Windows, providing you with tools, support, and resources during your cloud migration.
Rightsize your resources
Discover workloads in your on-premises or cloud environment and build an inventory of your compute resources. Our tooling-based approach will help you determine your actual utilization requirements to help optimally select the lowest-cost AWS EC2 instance size and type for each workload. Use this data to determine the right blend of on-demand and spot instances, dedicated hosts, savings plan, and other options tailored to your environment.

How it works
Microsoft SQL Server on Amazon EC2
The AWS OLA analysis will model your Microsoft SQL Server workloads on AWS, using CPU core optimization, database consolidation, and SQL Server edition optimization to reduce licensing costs without reducing performance. To meet the specific needs of your workloads, AWS supports many versions of SQL Server Express, Web, Standard, and Enterprise. Your choice of several versions of Microsoft SQL Server and cloud-native databases in both managed and unmanaged environments offer you the flexibility to run a database server for as much or as little time as you need.
Windows Server on Amazon EC2
Use AWS OLA to evaluate your options for buying license-included instances or bringing your own Windows Server licenses. Our experience running Windows applications has earned our customers’ trust and the number of AWS enterprise customers using Amazon EC2 for Windows Server has grown by 400% between 2015 and 2018.
Even without Software Assurance, AWS OLA identifies opportunities to bring existing licenses to AWS. Amazon EC2 Dedicated Hosts allow you to use your eligible software licenses in AWS, so you get the flexibility and effectiveness of using your own licenses, but with the resiliency, simplicity, and elasticity of AWS.
